Two funny RED related error messages I've come across. I'd love to see any other ones you've experienced.

By the way, cause I can't post without it being slightly educational, the "Calibration Failed" is due to a lack of digital magazine when attempting to perform a black shade - It needs somewhere to dump the sensor samples I gather. I laughed out loud when I read the return message, somebody at RED has a sense of humor! The other one is a result of the way OSX 10.6/RED Alert handles file format associations. While it presents as an error, RED Alert actually has no problem opening files, just not in the easy way we've become accustomed to doing it!

Actually, the Calibration Failed happens when you have an unformatted magazine attached. It passes the test of media present, but can't write anything to the media because it's not formatted.

I also laughed for a few minutes the first time I saw that, and thought that it takes a certain kind of company to put that error message in a camera. Another reason I love RED.

I've never seen the RedAlert message, that's pretty funny as well.

The RA message you get when double-clicking on a .R3D file in finder. Must say I chuckled the first time I saw that. Kind of "Microsoft office cannot open files in the .DOC format".

And as much as I like strawberries (either pure, with milk and sugar or mashed with whipped cream), this forum has now a Real Name policy. Please post your real name to the Real Name thread to get this sorted for you.

Though these are not RED specific errors, thought I'd share them anyway. I saw this posted on failblog a while back, I'm not a MAC user so I can't tell if someone was playing a joke, but nonetheless funny, also at work yesterday one of the editors showed me a message that pooped up on avid that said "Rendering video effects 4 of 3" (Apparently Avid doesn't know fractions).

PM'ed for name change. Didn't mean to step on any toes. Check the bottom of all my posts for full name and contact info.

BTW - I have seen that FCP error before, although I cant remember under what circumstances!

That "Alert: Something hapenned" thing almost made me choke on my ice cream!

Liked the "Not quite sure what you should do" one as well.

For years, there was an Avid error message that would pop up during a particular app crash that indicated the problem occurred in "BowelsOfTheMemoryManager."

I just found another goodie from my old dual 2.7GHz PPC. It threw this up when the first CPU took a dump forever. Oddly enough, the machine kept running for two more years on a single CPU.
