My # has come up! :)

But I was reading the term and conditions at red.com and wasn't completely clear about payment. I put a deposit down on credit card so I technically have a "balance" left to pay. However, I would like to not use that specific credit card to pay the amount. It was just used to place the reservation. I would like to pay for the entire amount on another credit card (it has enough balance to pay the entire amount). Is this possible? Item 3e made it seem like I couldn't anymore. But 3b and 3c seems to say that I can pay it. So what I would like to do is to credit my first card and pay the entire amount on the second. Has anyone did this? Thanks!

3b. Method of Payment – Credit card payment via VISA, MASTERCARD, AMERICAN EXPRESS or DISCOVER is provided as a convenience with valid credit card authorizations.

3c. Standard Payment Terms – All orders must be paid in full prior to shipment via wire transfer, cash equivalent (such as money order, cashier’s check, or personal check drawn from a United States bank), or credit card.

3e. Balance Payments – Buyer must pay the full remaining balance of the invoice before order will be processed for shipment. Balance payments in the amount of $7,500.00 USD or greater will only be accepted via wire transfer or cash equivalent (such as money order, cashier’s check, or personal check drawn from a United States bank). Balance payments in the amount of $7,499.99 USD or less may be remitted via credit card payments, wire transfer or cash equivalent as outlined above.

darn. :waaa:

Hmmm... I know that credit card's provide checks... but usually the interest is higher... I'll have to go double check the rate.

thanks jay.

i wonder why we can't pay the entire amount on credit card?

jay, did you pay for just the body only and then the accessories separate? maybe I can do that and be able to use the credit card for everything except part of the body.

Some big credit card deals will allow you to do cash advances for free. So, you dump the card into cash in your checking acct, then wire over to Red. Like back when I bought my house, a CC gave me a $20k card at a permanent lifetime interest of 2.8% on anything I could do in the first 30 days on the card. So...I took all $20k in cash, pulled it into my account and then used $10k on home improvements and immediately paid off $10k of my house (2.8% CC being a lot less than 6% mortgage). Anyhow, if someone else were to get such an offer, it'd be a heck of a good way to get a Red.

Yeah, I got that 3% thing too. I hope it applies to cash (check).

Thanks! I'll check into that too.

Credit card compaines are crooks, to both the consumer and business.. Those low interest deals are dangerous. There is usually a clause in the agreement that says if you are LATE AT ALL for any payment the interest goes up to 19%. So be careful, and they will NOT give you a 2nd chance since that was the goal in the first place.

Citibank is the worst of all.

"There is usually a clause in the agreement that says if you are LATE AT ALL for any payment the interest goes up to 19%."

just to be clear - late for any payment includes any BILL ( not just the CC bill) ..IE - you pay phone bill, gas, water , car payment, house , any creditor late the CC company can raise your interest rate to ?? some are higher then 19% .... ( it's all in the fine print )

The $7000 limit may vary from credit card company to credit card company. And it's usually a monthly limit - so one month you may pay $7000 and the next month the same amount.

Hi Tony -- I think the 7,500 limit is Red's limit on CC -- because it costs them when the CC company takes their cut. It can be as much as 5% and depends on the deal a company is able cut with the CC company. So Red is probably trying not to have too much of their profits eaten up by CC fees. Perfectly understandable. They also may be trying to protect us from our Red desires that might put us in over our heads. Which I'm sure some of us may be doing anyway.

I'd agree with Rod's assessment. Also - there are many ways to get cash from credit cards - a few have been mentioned. Worst case scenario is sign up with google checkout - charge yourself the amount - take it as cash - eat the 2% in fees.

But if you really have to do all this to get the camera... you really need to know exactly where the income from that camera is coming from in a tangible way because otherwise there is a huge flaw in your business plan and you'll go out of business fast.

All good things to know. Thanks everyone.

I'm still keeping my 9-5 that pays pretty good, So i can afford the payments. But that is interesting about missing ANY type of payment. I'll have to read the fine print for that one.

Thanks, but there's no flaw. :sarcasm:

Right now, my "business" is just my passion for story and cinematic images. If I make money, fine. If not, fine. :)

I really wish Red would let us put the whole amount on credit card. Now I have to make separate orders just to keep under the $7,499.00 limit. In the end it's more of an inconveniece for them and I. But mostly I'm just pissed over all the air-miles I'm losing out on, lol.
