Scarlet 2/3 Fixed currently is targeted with the following feature list: 3K resolution, more than twice the resolution of HD video, a 2/3" 5MP sensor, RAW file based recording in both still and motion, HDRx™ Extended Dynamic Range, a frame rate of 1-120fps (higher burst rate), full compatibility with all EPIC accessories and attachments, and all this housed in an all metal environmentally sealed, professional, cooled enclosure.

Forgive my ignorance, but does the bolded text mean I won't have to worry about condensation when moving from one temperature extreme to another? If so, that would be incredible!

My understanding, and that is all it is....

The cooling system is a separate, isolated path for air, and therefore condensation, from the actual electronics/brains. I imagine you would still get condenstion, but it would be on the external housing and in the cooling module.

The fans, again IIRC, are user replaceable. So keeping spare fans on hand would be an especially good idea for someone in a corrosive atmosphere like a volcano :)

Scott has it right. But in that in respect, the Red One is the same. The difference is the user replaceable fan in the Epics and Scarlets.

Your lenses will still be susceptible to condensation though!

Fortunately I'll be long gone by the time I get my Scarlets! This really is an unhealthy environment for cameras. But between Edinburgh and Tokyo I'm sure I'll be going out into and coming back in from all kinds of weather, and the whole plastic-bag-it-and-wait ordeal could put a damper on things and be the cause of some lost shots.

Even the fixed lens? I mean, I didn't figure this issue could be solved, I was just hoping against hope anyway.

The fact that the body is well sealed just means the electronics are well protected. But that doesn't obviate the need for rain covers because moisture can still form on external surfaces like the sensor OLPF, and while the buttons are probably weather resistant I wouldn't leave Red One, Epic or Scarlet sitting out in a downpour unprotected. They aren't meant to be waterproof.

And any lens going from cold to warm can potentially suffer condensation - I don't think there are many lenses that are 100% waterproof unless they are fixed iris, fixed focus prime lenses "ie no moving parts) for specialist shooting.
