For sale: Zeiss superspeed set:

- Zeiss 18mm , T1.4 (35mm) Mk.1, PL mount
- Zeiss 25mm , T1.3 (35mm) Mk.II, PL mount
- Zeiss 35mm , T1.4 (35mm) Mk.1, PL mount
- Zeiss 50mm , T1.4 (35mm) Mk.1, PL mount
- Zeiss 85mm , T1.4 (35mm) Mk.1, PL mount
- Pelican / Storm case iM2600

All lenses are Mk.I (converted from Bayonet to PL) except for the 25mm which is Mk.II They are basically the same as these:

http://www.visualproducts.com/storeProductDetail03.asp?productID=1335&Cat=8&Cat2=18&Cat3=26

The lenses are in decent used condition; there are visible scuffs on the barrels and housing but the glass appears to be in excellent condition. Please contact me for high resolution pics of each lens.

I also recently shot a shootout against a set of RPPs with amazing results. These zeiss look fantastic, they are warmer (typical zeiss glass) but the center sharpness is on par with the (much larger) RPPs. Please contact me for 4K Tiffs or R3Ds of this test.

I do love this set but must sell in order to fund my Epic package and indie film. Price is US $16K, OBO.

Thanks!!!
Alex

PM sent.

Will these cover the Epic "FF" setting at 5k?

Sorry for the late reply everyone. I'll send out detailed responses and download links later this afternoon.

My sets of Mark I Zeiss Super Speeds do cover FF 5k on Epic.

Yes I just tried them out on an Epic and was very surprised to discover that they do cover FF 5K... almost entirely. On closer inspection I could see a tiny little soft vignette in each corner, equivalent to about an ND 0.3 or 1 stop. This is not noticeable against most backgrounds and is well outside of broadcast safe. It could also be solved with about a 2% blowup in Redcine-X. All other 5K formats are totally clear of this tiny soft vignette.

5K example pics are available on request.

thats a great price for a gret set that with Epic nearly can see in the dark...good luck Alex

Thanks Sergio.

BTW: here are a few images shot at FF5K. You can see the very, very subtle vignette in each corner. Honestly, I don't think you would ever notice this unless you were shooting greenscreen or similar. The solution of course is to zoom in or crop by 1 or 2% (which is easy to do because the aspect ratio of FF5K is 1:1.9.... necessitating a crop for any standard delivery format (crop for 16x9, 1.85, 2.0, 2.35 and you're fine).

I thought this would be of interest to the Red community, and good news for all of us: superspeeds cover 5K!

P.S. Anyone know how to post larger pictures? I could never figure that out.

Small update: I've ordered some 80mm front adapter rings from Duclos. All lenses will soon have matching 80mm fronts.

Is this still available - I'm having a hard time sending a private message for some reason - please email me at marcanthonyr@gmail.com

Thanks

Marc

Thanks for all the interest guys. The set is tentatively sold. I'll announce it here when it's a done deal.
