  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

FS: Zeiss Standard Speeds T2.1 prime lenses

You will be able to find a lot of abused and "refurbished" lenses out there for bottom feeder rates. Certain lens owners rarely maintained their lenses and just want to get rid of their mismatched sets of prime lenses once they got their (ab)use out of them. These lenses often will need service or major overhauls soon after purchase and therefore cost you the same if not more in the long run.

If a Cinematographer and/or Rental House is in this business to make a living and provide top quality to their clients they will be able to appreciate professionally maintained, reliable equipment like my Zeiss lens set.

- My lenses are hand picked to match as close as possible in Contrast as well as Color Rendition.

- They are all in pristine optical and mechanical condition and will make any educated, knowledgeable Cinematographer and/or Rental House that seeks the look, functionality and character of the Zeiss Standard Speeds very happy

- My set of lenses received top quality care from experienced lens technicians throughout their lifetime.

- All optical elements are from the original assembly from Zeiss. Therefor the glass matches in coating which allows them match so well in color and contrast

I will consider any fair offer but I am not interested in bottom feeder rates.

These lenses have served me well on several feature films, commercials, music videos, greenscreen, bluescreen, white cyc, high contrast, low light, etc. shoots. I have captured beautiful images and stories with these lenses on various digital and film formats that have made many clients happy.

OK... WTF???

Crapping in other peoples' threads like this is not acceptable around here. There are two other sets of standards for sale within the first 50 posts in this forum right now and one is priced higher than this set. Yet no one is pissing in that thread.

Ya know what, I'm just going to purge this thread of all the price commentary. If you don't like the pricing, move along or take it up with the seller in private. There, the thread is cleaned. And the OP gets a bump.

And Philipp, pelase stop by the Real Names forum in the Recon section. Just sayin...

imho Jeff your subjective opinion about the comments is equal and no more valid than the subjective opinions of the price. Its seems a little god-like of you to clean this post and if thats the aim then i you have your hands full cleaning all the subjective opinions on "our" user website.
If you put an advert out there then you must be ready for those to have
their opinions...when did we all get so sensitive?

imho...

yeah, what he said.

and why would we take out the 16mm from the set (and sell it separately) and put a 135 instead (to complete the 5 lens set)? without a 16, that set is not that useful. i don't need the 135 as much.

Lenny,

I appreciate your opinion.
The reason I offer the 16mm Zeiss prime separate from the 5 lens set is because it does not match the set in terms of color rendition and contrast as well - despite it being in pristine optical and mechanical condition.

I hold my equipment to very high standards and wouldn't feel comfortable to offer it as part of the 5 piece lens set.

I know there are many unknowledgeable people out there that wouldn't know the difference; sub-par used lenses are sold every day to uneducated customers and many more owner/operators just do not care what they rent out or own.
Time tends to weed out these unethical, uneducated owners and many do not stay in business with high-end equipment.

I agree that a complete lens set that is intended for rental requires a focal length of 18mm or wider - the new Cooke lens set that I am just about to purchase includes even more focal lengths.

But to accuse me of malintent or imply price gouging is not the appropriate response.

I you are interested in purchasing any of my lenses I will be happy to send you high resolution pictures and put you in touch with my lens technician from over 6 years.

Respectfully,

Philipp Friesenbichler

Disclaimer: I personally know Philip. That being said, I have seen his lenses in the past and they are in good condition. I haven't done any significant service on them - they haven't needed it.

I have run into a few T2.1 Standard Prime sets with haze and fungus lately. Would you feel good if you had saved $5000.- USD from Philip's price, and when you had the lenses checked by a technician he discovers scratched elements, haze and fungus in ALL the lenses?

Because that's exactly the scenario I saw recently.
