  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

FS: Viewfactor Impero/Inclino three motor kit

I'm totally confused about the sale part... Why bother? If the system isn't working for you, give it back to VF and get your money back.

I'm still not convinced it's just the motors. Others are reporting success when using the system with the same lenses you're using.

As for Gustavo's comment about the motors being "Mickey Mouse" in comparison to Bartech... If that's true, then we have a real problem. I haven't seen an Inclino motor since NAB '08, so I have no idea what they're like now other than the few videos shown online. But I'll just say that the Bartech motors have never impressed me and they have their own share of problems. If the VF Inclinos are not at least up to the Bartech level, then this system will fail, even if it is 1/3 the price of the Bartech.

You're missing the point, Jeff. I'm offering this to someone who has the time for this system to be perfected. Who knows when you'll get it if you order a set now? Well - here's a way to get it in your hands right now. As said before; I'm sure Curt will get this up and running in the end - I just don't know when so I'd rather just part with it now and get something that works. I will consider getting a kit down the road when all the kinks have been ironed out.

I did consider getting a refund, but I paid a quite a lot of import tax on this kit so getting a refund would mean I'd loose that money. If I'm able to sell the kit at the price Viewfactor is asking then I'd make that money back. I'd rather not walk out of this loosing money.

Jeff. Everybody.
the Motors ARE MICKEY MOUSE!
but not even a chinatown mickey mouse. they are more like a very very cheap Taiwanese made rolex.
As you know stuff made in China, like for example an i-Phone or a MacBook pro, can be top notch quality, as long as it is designed and supported by competent and experienced engineers and designers.

i.e. Apple, Boeing or B.M.W.

or

it can be made in the US but, still can have the greatest designs, support and customer Service.

i.e. Bartech or Mercedes.

In this case, this Viewfactor, which is a great looking paper weight, will have the same customer support as a Vietnamese rolex purchased from a homeless kid in the streets of Thailand.

Ya pretty hurtin post. lose the racial bagging on asians Gustavo. Stop highjacking the thread with your sniveling

Curt seems to be stepping up to the challenge and will be assembling three new motors and a new Impero. As long as this kit isn't selling then I might as well give him the benefit of the doubt and see if I will get a working kit. I will be putting the whole enchilada to the max. to make sure it holds up. I will post results as I have them.

Tony, that's pretty good news don't you think? It's very good in my mind that Curt is stepping up to it, and basically i think he doesn't have much choice. if he can't prove to a customer that it works then this is gonna spread like wildfire and it's all over for VF for the short term. Maaaany will pull out and well...you know what next.

Gustavo, what the? If you had given professional feedback with a professionals attitude you may get a lot more credit than what you deserve after that. It's pretty easy to slag something off with a few thoughtless words, how about offering everyone here who is seriously concerned about receiving a professional product with some professional comments.

Ultimately we all know you get what you pay for, but occasionally something grand comes along (RED) and it changes the game. I think VF can get there.

I mentioned I received my set a few days ago. I'll try and make time to play around with it today. I'll post a feedback soon.

Well we all know what american design and build quality has done for the US reputation all around the world for the last 5 decades...Everything from Rocketships to V22 OSPREY,to M16s that jam,to cars,to MAGlites(Exception: Apple,Woody Allen,HBO and Barack Obama). Mind you we Danes are not that good either at building things (all though we do quite good R&D and nice design). English build quality is poor. The French are a lot better, but very French(Quirky/sometimes genius design, but difficult to service).
If you want to own high quality gear, buy German, Japanese or Swedish(they are 8,5mill people and they build a fly-by-wire fighter plane and they have Volvo ,SAAB, Bofors, Elektrolux, Tretrapak and ABBA!)
All that said and joking aside, no german/japanese or swede(Oops forgot the Koenigsegg!) would have done what Jim has done and my RED has been a joy to own for the last 18 months and it has worked almost without issues for 200+ shooting days.
I really hope Curt and the team proves me wrong in my horrible general assumption of americans ;-)
It seems to me they are trying as hard as they can to get this right, and I believe they will.
(Awaiting a fully functional set of VF on my doorstep soon)

Have you tried this some place other then indoors? I don't know how this system works at all, but the first thing I suspect in many computer problems is EMI...

Von Badinski sound pretty German with a Polish origin... Seriously, I'm following this since the Badinskis started to publish their R&D here on reduser and I have a lot of respect that they took the challenge (great American virtue) and build remote FFs in the price realm of the average reduser.

I really hope to hear that Tony's issue will be resolved. I'm in a market for a remote FF as well. C-Motion (Austrian) as well as Fox-Chrosziel or even Arri (both German) are not in my current financial realm - Viewfactor is.

Hans

Still for sale. Curt from Viewfactor has said he will send me new motors and a new Impero - so here's your chance before I change my mind ;-)

Seeing the drift in your video where you pull focus then stop but the motor keeps turning looks very much like the same thing I am having with the Birger mount and an Impero from them. So, that drift may be an Impero issue, not a motor issue.

I still have yet to try an extensive focus test to hit marks. Other then that I love this unit. I'll get out this week and give it a shot.

Tony I would hold off the sale until you get your new motors. Just saying...

Curt promised me that three new motors and a new Impero would ship today. Still waiting for tracking numbers.
