Up for sale is a Sachtler Video 25 tripod.

Includes Video 25 head with 150mm ball base, quick release plate, screws, pan arm, Sachtler one stage aluminum sticks with base spreader.

This big brother to the Video 20 can handle up to 77lbs, which allows you to grow your Red a good deal while keeping within a very comfortable operating weight range (meaning that you can have a pretty massive camera built without maxing out the tripod, as would quickly be the case with many other popular heads in the 50-60lbs max weight capacity range).

This is a great heavy duty support solution for those of you with growing Red packages (especially with heavier zooms). Also a very good option for anyone rigging teleprompters in front of the lens for commercial/corporate work.

Another benefit to this head is that it is relatively light compared to the Video 30 (which is rather beastly) and the O'Connor 2575 (a pain to lug around, no matter how beautifully it works on a dolly). Still roughly 50% lighter than the O'Connor 2060 (~10lbs vs the 2060 @ 16lbs), yet with greater weight capacity (77lbs vs the 2060 @ 65lbs). In other words, anyone who is considering using this in an EFP capacity, and wants to be able to carry the tripod over his/her shoulder while carrying the camera in another hand (not recommended, of course, but we can't always have the pleasure of assistants, can we?), this can still work very well for you. It may be the perfect marriage of both needs and requirements.

Please bear in mind that the fluid head for sale is an older version, but this should give you a ballpark idea of what is listed.

This tripod is used but in good working condition. Was recently checked out at Abel in NYC, opened up, re-lubricated and tightened up. All fluid modules are in working condition, as are the other bits and pieces. And yes, I have mounted my own camera w/ 19mm SS rails, Red Bottom Plate, AllStar dovetail, EVF, PRO LCD, cradle, with battery, top mounts, handle + extension, and Cooke 20-100 with support, all with great ease.

NEW ASKING PRICE: $5000. A very good price for a very good tripod.

If that still strikes you as high, submit an offer. I'm also open to trades (not necessarily tripods, but I still need some filters, follow focus, etc.)

Available for pick up in NYC, shipping to anywhere in the USA. Will consider shipping international, depending on situation, but local is preferred.

PM me with any questions/offers, or email me: clintlitton at gmail dot com.

Thanks for looking! (will post pictures in the next few days)

Sorry for the delay...

Here are some pictures of the tripod, both by itself and with camera built on top. Plenty of room to grow the camera, as well.

I didn't take too many close-ups of the legs, but they support plenty of weight. I raised them up so the head was about 5'6" and put all my weight (about 160lbs) on top of the head to test the legs and their hold...again, no problems whatsoever.

The head just came back from Abel in NY where it was cleaned thoroughly and re-lubricated. All parts in working order.

For those who haven't noticed, I decided to lower the asking price to $5000.

I would be willing to negotiate on price, and will entertain some trade offers. I'm still looking for some additions to my package, including a follow focus, a case for the camera, some ET gear, etc.

PM me with any questions or offers! You can also contact me via email (clintlitton at gmail dot com).

This tripod is in NYC if you want to see it in person...

Thanks again for looking!

Two reasons for selling:

The fluid drag on this head is lighter than a brand new head, due to age. The fluid modules all work fine and everything engages smoothly as it should, but I personally prefer a lot of resistance when operating. In essence, this works fine as an interim tripod, but I don't think it would suit me for the long haul...which brings me to the second reason:

I'd like to upgrade to a higher end setup, specifically the Sachtler Cine 30 HD, which is basically a hybrid of Sachtler and O'Connor design...it would allow me to use the ET 2060 dovetail with the Arri bottom plate without a quick release plate. Moreover, I'd be getting the Abel Red Package, which would include 2-stage CF legs, mid-level spreader, feet, shipping tube, etc., making a more professional package for personal use and rental. A more versatile setup...

I've seen a lot of people using less drag/resistance in their operating style, and figured that this head could be a great solution for somebody else, hence the listing. It was thoroughly inspected and serviced at Abel, cleaned and re-lubricated, with everything checking out, so I have absolute confidence that it will serve someone very well, provided it is in line with their personal preference with regards to fluid drag.

If anyone has any other questions, don't hesitate to ask...if you're in the NYC area, we can arrange a time to look at the tripod first-hand.

Shoot me a PM, or email me...clintlitton at gmail dot com.

Cheers

it's too pricey. A recent auction on eBay for a newly refurbished/serviced video 30 with Ronford medium legs n hi hat went for $3750. You might get offers if you lower your asking price.

Cheerios,
Yean

I hear you, Yean. I figured people could submit their own offers based on what they felt it was worth and we could work from there.

Nevertheless, I'll again lower the asking price, and take this opportunity to reinforce that this price is negotiable...now that I've brought it down again, I don't know how much lower I'd be willing to go or under what circumstances, but make me a reasonable offer and I'll likely say yes.

New asking price: $5500 obo.

Regarding the Sachtler Video 30, that sounds like a fantastic deal indeed, but these heads are suited for different working environments. The Sachtler Video 30, as anyone who has worked with one could tell you, is an absolute beast...very heavy. Great for on-dolly work in a studio, not realistically suited for EFP work.

This is what makes the Video 25 an ideal, in-between choice for Red owners whose work straddles the line between studio set-ups and environments that may require more speed or less hands on deck. It can hold pretty much anything you need, whether it be a full get-up with a 12x Optimo or a teleprompter, yet it's still light enough to carry over a shoulder one-handed without leaving marks.

If anyone has any other questions or would like to negotiate a different selling price/trade, feel free to PM me here or send me an email:

Anyone local to NYC that wants to check it out in person, feel free to shoot me an email or give me a call to set up a time.

Thanks again for looking!

Clint

In case anyone is interested, here is a link to a little something that came from shooting some tests in Union Square a week or so ago. Shot in 2k 2:1, 113 fps. Smooth tracking of a subject walking at a decent pace, just to give you an idea of how this tripod operates. The only lack of smoothness in the operation comes from racking focus on the Cooke 20-100 without a follow focus.

Wish I could have helped you out. Like the system. Unfortunately way out of my range for now. Good Luck with selling it. just thought i would let you know that people are looking.

This post has nothing to do with your head and I hope you find a buyer, but i
cant help but notice in the pix you have what looks like a cooke 18 100
with a Red Rock mattebox. Is this true? and if so, what mods did you do to make it fit.

Thanks

Thanks, Canada & Paul...

Paul, in answer to your question, it is a Cooke 20-100, so from what I've read, a slightly smaller front element diameter than the 18-100.

There was a post by Mark at OffHollywood about snugging up his RRMB to the new Red 18-85, in which he had to take away some of the rear plastic bellows in order for the mattebox to allow the lens to move in closer to the filter stages. This was necessary with the 20-100 as well.

One cited option is to remove the rear plastic bellows, but that leaves an open space between the lens and the filters which will need to be covered somehow to protect from light leaks, etc. It has also been noted that one can purchase the more expensive MB-20 rear adjustable bellows to use in lieu of the plastic and fixed RR component & rubber donut combination, though I'm not sure that would accept a lens diameter as large as the 20-100, much less the 18-100 (not to mention that it would likely cost 80-100% as much as the RRMB itself).

I chose to use my dremel (rotary tool) with a cylindrical sanding/cutting stone to trim away a few mm from the inner edge of the rear bellows, until it would clear the front element of the lens. I also had to trim away a bit from the inner plastic "prongs"--which presumably hold the rubber donuts in place--until the mattebox would accept the lens far enough that there was no longer any vignetting on the wide end of the lens. I don't know for sure if adding a third filter stage will cause any vignetting, but I certainly hope it won't... Anyway, my modification was a little rushed and as a result, it's not the prettiest work I've done, but you wouldn't notice it unless you were looking up close, and in this case I'll definitely favor function over form.

If you're sporting an 18-100, expect to take away pretty much the whole back lip of the rear bellows (the portion with the embossed "redrock micro" lettering).

Hope this helps, and thanks again for the encouragement.

On that note, any renewed interest/need for a solid tripod?

Cheers, and happy shooting!

It'll get the job done, for sure.

All you new 2500+ Red One owners...if you're thinking of going big on zoom lenses, teleprompters, or just plain heavy camera configurations, the Video 25 could be just the tripod for you...

Still available for sale. Not brand new, but not abused, either. A little light on the drag, but good working order nevertheless, and recently serviced.

If you don't have the money for an O'Connor but still want something solid -- without breaking your back every time change positions or need to carry the tripod from one distant set to another -- the Sachtler Video 25 is a great option.

This one is still for sale! $5200 obo

Don't be afraid to put something solid under your $30k+ camera...

as Governor Schwarzenegger would say: "DO IT! DO IT NOW!!!"

Apparently nobody is heeding Arnold's advice to DO IT DO IT NOW.

NEW ASKING PRICE: $5000 obo

Is it really possible that Red has shipped another 2000 cameras and nobody needs support?

If there's anyone out there who didn't get broadsided by the market and was storing their savings under the mattress, and wants to go big (but not too big), I've got the tripod for you.

PM or email (clintlitton at gmail dot com) any questions or offers.

Cheers!

its a great tripod - but the reason its probably been sitting here so long is the price. You're pretty close to the range for a used 2060 setup - which is in much higher demand among redusers
