Why buy from me?

I was the first person to ever write about Red publicly, this was my baby for a few years, I got an Epic-X and it is time to let this one go. I started and wrote http://www.hdforindies.com if you ever read about Red there, I worked in their booth at a few trade shows. If it means anything to you, David Fincher shot with my camera (yes, this one) for a football spot for Nike, and it was also used on the first season of the new Hawaii Five-O series (still has the production sticker on the case), as well as other features and commercials in the Los Angeles area. I'm selling this camera on eBay not RedUser because pricing is so hard to determine right now - I'll let the market sort it out, but I'm ready to sell this.

I'm in L.A., so if in L.A. area welcome to come inspect and or test prior to purchase via appointment.

If in LA area (or you come here), I'd be happy to spend part of a day with you walking through any questions about setup or workflow or post for the buyer after purchase. How's that for a perk?

U.S. BUYERS ONLY.

Shipping - I picked what I thought would be worst case - happy to adjust. It'll be two big, HEAVY boxes, insured.

Payment to be made via PayPal, buyer pays for shipping, no returns or refunds unless item is notably different than described.Want to use an escrow service? Happy to discuss.

Why buy this over a Scarlet?

There are many reasons to buy a Scarlet, but price performance for a fully kitted one may give you pause.

1. Here's all the parts you need to shoot NOW (less lenses). It is February, I've been waiting for Epic parts since October, just now about to get the last of them. Same problem with Scarlets. If you know Red, you know how they are with shortages and backorders for fulfilling backorders. They do their best, but this is how it is. Price out equivalently mounted, monitored, powered, and especially record duration equipped Scarlet - ouch. (see next point)

2. Recording - here's two drives & 6 CF cards that will yield about 6-7 hours of total recording time. On Scarlet? That would cost you over $16,000 for Scarlet in $1800 128GB SSD modules. OUCH. SSD is the only recording option for Epic or Scarlet.

3. Overcrank - at 2K, Scarlet can do only 60fps, not the 120fps this one can - TWICE the frame rate of Scarlet.

4. Want MX to have the same sensor as Scarlet or Epic? You can still upgrade this one.
