Hi all,
I am finally putting my EPIC-X back on the market. I originally was going to sell this summer but a few things came up and I had to hold off. I apologized a few times to a couple of REDUsers who were expecting me to sell it to them, I hope they forgive me by now!!

RED PACKAGE: THESE ARE THE NEW PRICES OF THE PIECES OF THE PACKAGE.
Epic-X #987 Brain WITH side SSD and PL lens mount- $21k
2x128GB Red Mags= $2,500
Red Station- $250
5" Touchscreen- $1600
RedMote- $550

Third Party Handle
Third Party Audio Adapter- converting to 2x XLR inputs
2x 18" rails

Total Price New- $29,250

SELLING PRICE:
I originally was expecting around $25k in the summer, but I know its probably depreciated since then so I'm open to offers. Please make me an offer!

PICTURES: http://s1350.photobucket.com/user/mikef123456/library/Epic Pics?sort=2&page=1

ALSO- I have an 18-50mm Zoom Lens that I'd also be willing to add to the package for a reasonable extra amount. It is included in the pictures.

VERIFICATION THAT THIS IS LEGIT:
The camera is at the respected Moviola Studios in Hollywood. You can talk to them to verify that they have possession of the camera and that I am the owner and that the camera is for sale. I don't want to have a ton of people contacting them, but once you contact me and if it seems like we can work out a deal, I will give you a contact there who can verify everything and set up an appointment for you to check out the camera in person. When you go in person you can see the camera for yourself, as well as talk to them and verify that I am the owner and the camera is for sale.

ALSO- I AM GOING TO TAKE SOME TIME TO CONSIDER ALL OFFERS, AND I AM LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO WILL GIVE THE CAMERA A GOOD HOME AND NOT JUST RESELL IT TO MAKE A QUICK BUCK. IF YOU ARE IN A RUSH, PLEASE DO NOT PLAN ON BUYING THIS CAMERA BECAUSE I AM NOT GOING TO RUSH A SALE! THANKS!

-Mike

Watch out! This guy is not interested in selling a camera. He is a scammer and enjoys putting people through hoops and making them suffer. Notice he doesn't use his real name. I would avoid like the plague. Feel free to email me for details of the scam.

Ryan, you are treading on dangerously thin ice here. To label someone a scammer is pretty serious and yet, as far as I can tell, no scam has been committed. You may not approve of the way his potential dealings with you were conducted. You may not appreciate that he chose to not sell the camera at that time or that he may not have felt comfortable with the deal from his end. That does not make him a scam artist.

From a moderator perspective, it's very difficult to iron out issues like this. The best advice I can give here is that any prospective buyers do their own research and due diligence for this transaction. The OP says his camera is at Moviola and they, as a third party, will be facilitating the sale. Also, with any proper sale of a RED camera and ownership transfer, it's best to have the camera sent to RED for evaluation. RED can handle the final stage of the sale, shipping the camera to the new owner and completing the ownership transfer process.

Jeff, do you know the story behind this or you're just speculating? I'm interested in the Epic package but if Mike is a scammer, then I appreciate Ryan stepping in and giving us the heads up. This is $25k we're talking about after all. That's enough to send someone like myself under... Food for thought.

I only know what has been posted thus far, much of it deleted or contained in a previous sales thread and perhaps a couple other small tidbits. Interacting with both parties in private discussion gives me the impression that both are reasonable people with different ideals of how such a transaction should be conducted. No money was exchanged that I am aware of.

As with any large transaction of this sort, I think it's best that any interested party take whatever measures they deem necessary to protect themselves. Even use a third-party escrow service to facilitate the transaction. At this stage, the OP states he has his camera with a production company, Moviola, who will be available to show the camera and will be facilitating the sale. So I would start there, verify all this, see the camera, etc..

Both parties in this ongoing dispute say they are willing to share copies of emails and other info with me to prove their side. I have not gone down that road at this time and really have no desire to. As someone who attempted to do business with the OP over this camera, Ryan Blaine has the right to post and report, even warn others of potential hazard. However, there was no theft or scam committed. On the surface, to my eyes, it seems like a case where two people found each other's business practices disagreeable, even suspect.

Tread with caution, as one always should with such a purchase.

I have done everything I can to help others from being taken advantage of including offering proof of what happened to me. There is not much more than I can do at this point. If anyone would like more information, feel free to contact me. Otherwise, you can always contact the seller and find out for yourself.

jeff,

with all due respect shouldnt you stay clear till something is blatent, or obvious to you with repect to the "rules of the REDUSER" and not the LAW?..If Ryan puts himself at risk, I believe he has that right to do so.If intent, being a great percentage of legal measure, and i know it is, I believe hes well within his right to warn others of potential danger.

Odd that the poster is not responding. Ryan sent me a very detailed explanation of why he is warning us, so much so that I am no longer interested in this pkg or dealing with its seller.

Yep, Ryan also messaged me and now I'm staying well clear. It sounds fishy and I'm certainly not in a position to gamble on something that doesn't seem quite right.

Jeff, I am also of the same opinion as Sergio. If you're not clear on what's gone on, you shouldn't be berating Ryan for trying to warn us. I'm glad he did. He might have just saved me a whole bunch of pain.

I'm curious why so many of you are jumping on the moderator for DARING TO MODERATE? Are you going to jump on me next for having the audacity to question your opinions whein it's obvious that I haven't posted enough times to be ALLOWED an opinion? I've seen people use that line of BS before... well, I'm old, retired, and don't care what people think. Mikes caveat ( I hope they forgive me by now!!) coupled with Ryan's accusations (He is a scammer and enjoys putting people through hoops and making them suffer.) tells me they have a history similar to my ex (psycho b*tch) and I, but Ryan COULD have warned people with a tad less venom. And Ryan made the entire thing personal, which is what I think Jeff was warning him about. It's one thing to say "Joe Blow wasted my time for 3 months on this camera bla bla bla", it's another thing to add "and his dick's too small!!"
I side with Ryan, and if someone jerked me around over a deal, the moderators would have to take me out back and wash my mouth out with soap. No one ever accused me of being sane and sensible, though. But I think some of you were out of line over Jeff trying to maintain civility before a major blowup could occur. His job is to PREVENT major issues, not solve them after the fact. Some of you may want to consider how tough a moderator's job is before you second guess him next time.

Okay, so you don't care. That's fine -- people are different. But for some people to purchase an Epic is a big deal. Hence, I'm amongst those who really appreciate to receive red flags before it's too late.

You sound slightly unhinged.

I think the fact that Mike can't be bothered to post a single reply speaks volumes.

Well, I'd like to respond to all of you who have been bashing Mike. First off, Let me say, I did my research, even googled him for a few days. I decided i'd give it a shot and contact Mike. So far, I was the only one to give him any credit at all, without going off of what Ryan has said here. I drove to LA yesterday, and guess what? I am the proud new owner of Epic #987. I went with my gut, not what others on here "said". Mike isn't one to confront or even be bothered with bashing on him, and to be honest, he has no reason to be. He is a nice guy, and has pursued a different career, and went with what his gut told him to do. I spent A LOT of time on the phone with Mike over the past few weeks. I can say though, if I had been brazened at all, which maybe a few potential buyers were, he would have cut it off. To give a tad bit more focus on the situation, and hopefully it will help out for the future on the forum,

Let's talk about the situation: Mike moved away from LA over a year ago, to pursue something else. It's not my place to say what he is doing, but I can tell you it is honorable. He had the camera at a wonderful rental house Moviola, and it just wasn't panning out for him. He decided to sell it, but when a "certain" buyer on here was VERY pushy and demanding, he felt sick, and backed out. He didn't feel good about it, and followed his gut which led him to ask for more secure ways of selling the camera. This particular buyer has been bashing Mike ever since, and unknown to the forum members, has also been hitting Mike up to STILL sell the camera to him...(while bashing him publicly) This particular buyer also has an odd history, if it is honest or not, I am not saying since I have no idea, but for Mike it was enough to throw up a few flags. The seller VERY often sells high price items, and then every few days drops the price... A LOT. This goes on until the item is soon marked down to as much as 60% off and then there is never a buyer to claim they got the item. All of this is only mentioned here, to further explain why Mike felt apprehensive with his first potential sale. He then decided to keep the camera and see if the rentals would pan out over the summer. My support goes out to Jeff as a moderator, because he has to decide on his own ethical and moral compass what to respond to and what not to respond to. He had MUCH more insight than any of us about someone's bashing on Mike, and was only saying, to take it easy....since the other user was following Mike around and bashing him.

All this I say only to shed light. Guys, the last thing we need on this forum are trolls, flamers, and those who slander others. There is a section for complaints. To follow a person around and bash them on all their posts is just immature ridiculous, and amateur. We aren't in HS (well maybe a few are) but I would ask each of us (myself included) to think twice before posting negativity on here, and if we do, put it in the complaints dept. It's so easy to type negativity, and walk away and go on with your day, but that can leave a lasting effect on someone.

Cheers, and let's all just keep creating, which is what this forum is about anyway. Moving on, I am VERY excited to use the camera and capture what I can with it. We are currently working on a Heli rig to carry the Epic and capture more great aerial footage. Cheers, and Happy Holidays guys.

Congrats on your camera. Hope it works out fine moving forward. Recommend transfer ownership with Red.

Chris, I find your comments extremely disrespectful. The only reason I mentioned about 'Mike Flight' was to protect others from being taken advantage of as I had. There is nothing about my history on Reduser that is odd. You are saying that it is strange if a person list something for sale, and if it doesn't sell, they later reduce the price. Um, that is kind of how it works for anyone selling anything ever. I am a senior member and have plenty of people that can vet for me. On the other hand, Mike Flight is the epitome of sketchyness. Using a fake name, temporary number, no online presence, only with a PO box, living across the country, no discernible identity.

In June, I went to look at the Epic he had for sale for the price we had agreed to over the phone. I looked at and said I would buy it and could pay him immediately cash or cashier's check. Only he didn't to sell it to me without first learning more about me? Yes, it was that strange. Regardless, I spent over a week on the phone with him asking me everything about my past, employment history, requesting personal references, etc. Finally, after all the creepiness was over, he said 'ok' he will sell it to me. I just have to send him a cashier's check for $25k to his PO box on the east coast and once he clears the funds, then he will tell Moviola to release the camera. Talk about send off alarm bells. I said there is no way I or anyone would do that and I felt there was the distinct possibility of a scam. I said I would pay directly in cash or cashier's check, or Paypal, or escrow. How did Mike respond? He magically decides he doesn't want to sell his camera anymore, takes it off Reduser and he doesn't respond to any more of my calls or emails. He vanishes. That is just the tip of the iceberg with what happened...but it should give you an idea.

If someones behaves, sounds, responds ,etc like a scammer , they shouldn't be surprised when someone calls them a scammer. And, others shouldn't get angry at someone for calling a scammer a scammer. If all of the evidence points resoundingly that the someone is a scammer, it is the person being called a scammer to argue to the contrary. Should I have just send 'Mike Flight' a cashier's check for $25k and been ripped off, then said 'see, I was right'. Great, it would be proven, but I would be out $25k, not worth it. I have lost somewhere around $70k over the past 20 years to various scams. I would have greatly appreciated someone like me warning beforehand. It is always many times more difficult to catch a scammer after he already scammed someone.

In fact, there is still the strong possibility that Mike Flight was trying scam me and others, but I called him out, so maybe he had no but choice to sell the camera and move on. You should be thanking me Chris Jondan for this reason, not insulting me. I would urge you to sit back and think about the consequences of my decision to call out 'Mike Flight'. If I was right, I have saved someone $25k+, if I am wrong, no one cares...especially ever sketchy Mike Flight who has already vanished again.

Punishing or insulting someone for trying to protect others is wrong on so many levels Chris Jordan and Jeff Kilgroe.

Ryan, I'm sorry you're offended. I didn't mean to. At this point I'd love to be done talking about it. Sound good?
