I am selling a few Red accessories I do not use. These are the original Machined parts, which are no longer available, the current parts are cast. They are much better quality than the current cast parts. I only used these for a few days, and they were actually never used on a shoot, so they are in great condition. Because they are the machined parts, and are like new I am asking full price for them.
The only part that shows wear is the bottom plate which has wear where it bolts to the camera, the first time I bolted this to my Red, the bold scratched the finish (you can see this in last photo). You will never see this once its attached to the camera.

PM if interested.

Just out of curiosity, are you sure the bottom plate is machined? I just ask because I have camera #79 and I got all machined parts except for the bottom plate, and the bottom plate depicted on the red.com store page (which is clearly machined) shows silver screw holes where you bolt the plate to the bottom of the camera. My cast version does not have this (and neither does yours).

As for the other stuff - if anyone is getting ready to take possession of their cameras, snatch these items up! The machined parts are absolutely superior to the cast versions and they are likely to start getting extremely difficult to get ahold of, especially in this condition.

Well, I thought it was, I'll have to look again. All the other parts are clearly machined, and I thought my bottom plate was too. I'll look and update the post.

I'm a dope.. What's the big difference between CAST & Machined?

Since I'm 363, I assume all my gear is machined..

Early parts, were machined... Meaning they were milled out of a solid piece of aluminum. Later parts are cast, meaning the aluminum is molten and poured into a mold. Machined parts are typically more precise in their construction, but more expensive to manufacture. Some of the original machined parts fit together better.

I think only the first 100 or so were machined...if you look at the pieces you can tell the difference. The machined pieces have marks from the machining process, cast parts are smoother as the come from a mold. Machined parts are superior.
