  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

FS:Red 7" Pro LCD with some small scratches

UPDATE:

I have brought my monitor to Jacek from Optitek and he has repaired the monitor and it is like new. For a price 1/5th of what Red quoted me for the job. He has also upgraded some of the films on the LCD and increased the black levels and viewing angle on it dramatically. What a great service at a great price! Instead of a damaged LCD I have one that is BETTER than before.

I would recommend this to anyone, even if you don't have any scratches on the front.

thanks Jacek!

Unfortunately the 5.6" Red monitors are built in more traditional way and have no protection for the LCD panel. The scratches you see on the 5.6" monitors are on the LCD panels unlike the 7" that has a thin protective shield.
Having said that we offer repair service for the 5.6" panel where we refurbish the panel to like new condition. The price is less than half of the replacement from Red. We also offer passive contrast enhancement for the 5.6" panels that visibly improve the contrast, colors, detail and viewing angles for the 5.6" monitor. In addition to the display improvements the top layer of the enhancement is easily removable and replaced so it offers limited extra protection for the monitor. The cost of replacing the top layer is a fraction of the scratch repair.

Thanks for providing this service Jacek!

The scratches on my 5.6" LCD are pretty deep and I think I need a whole new panel...

Question: is it possible to buy only the LCD panel from you - with the enhanced contrast & clarity layer on top of it - and then install it myself? Or does it take a pro like you to do the surgery?

My Pro LCD came back from a rental with some scratches on it. The repair cost is almost as high as a new one.
Maybe someone is interested in this one. The scratches are barely visible when the monitor is on and it might not bother someone budget conscious. It is less than a year old.
Make an offer...

If it came back scratched like that from a rental, wouldn't insurance cover it?

Anti Glare Films

Anti Glare Films

I use these protective film, Its clear, thick and order a custom size for my 7"LCD, works great.

The films that these guys sell are anti glare- diffusion type- absolutely horrible for daylight/sunlight viewing. They work OK indoors when the ambient ligh is relatively low.
I thought the anti glare is past- sooooo 2006:coolgleamA:
