Own a historical Red camera - lease to own Red serial number 0008. This camera was used to create many of the first milestones for Red One cameras - 1st Red 3D, first Red underwater, first water surface (Pipeline Hawaii), first EFP-style production with a Red, pioneered hybrid style, and many other Red firsts and high-profile Red productions :)

The camera has been executed for Epic - and I'll be keeping the Epic it was executed for. It still has the M sensor, is eligible for MX upgrade, and has all other Red upgrades (audio board, etc.). Red 0008 is in fantastic condition! It comes with a wide array of Red and ET accessories.

Sale will be negotiated via email and phone - not via this thread. I'll pay a referral fee to anyone who refers an associate that completes a purchase of the camera.

Please contact me with your offers and/or questions via my regular email at: steve (at) cut4 (dot) tv

Someone step right up and buy yourself an important piece of Red history...

Thought I'd add that I'd prefer to sell the camera to a buyer in the USA, but will consider an international sale.

Didn`t Jim once offer to buy this Camera?..I`m sure i remember a post to that effect..

I've never said or intimated such a thing...

Thanks Ketch! For those who don't know, Ketch was one of my team members, along with Dave Mullen, Jeff Kilgroe, Brook Willard, Matt Uhry, Lucas Wilson, Finner, and many others for the historic L.A. Red Test (LART) event in early December 2007 in which we field tested Red cameras on the lot, and also lab tested some lenses. Red 0008 was part of that LART event. Me and Ken Corben produced LART.

Red 0008 was also part of Ketch's exciting Sirens of TI multi-Red camera production at Treasure Island Resort in Las Vegas in October 2008. Ketch is a longtime good friend and associate.

Red 0008 was also one of the cameras used in the unique 10 Red camera production of the classic rock band Journey in concert in Manila, the 8 Red camera classic rock band Heart in Seattle, multiple National Geographic Television specials, and a huge list of other high-profile Red productions since August 31, 2007.

Yeaph and those were all great times with you and #0008 ;)

That was a fun couple days and I appreciated you guys producing it and Dave of Pelican Products as our generous host. Wow, that was all but three years ago... Hard to believe.

wow, you're really letting it go? perhaps you've already gotten your 30 day notice for the epic? hehe:-P If only i had the budget.
best of luck to you and the lucky buyer:-)

Yup, it was way good to get "Da Boyz" together for that. Being a super-early adopter of Red One I was in a position to produce it - and definitely happy to do so. Yes, big kudos to Pelican Products for letting us use their facilities. The classic cars there were mind-boggling - I want one!

Three years since LART - really hard to believe! In some ways it seems like it was just yesterday, but in other ways it seems like it was a decade ago...

I hear ya Matt. We had some challenges on that September 2007 commercial shoot in Calgary, but we survived them and learned a lot in the process. That really seems like a looooooooooooong time ago eh....

I remember providing backup on that shoot with #13
...Seems like another world ago, by now...

Yes it was another world ago...

Being able to get your #13 for backup on that shoot was critical. Also as you'll remember, in late August 2007 your child was being born so you allowed me to take delivery of #13 at the first Red Day (8/31/07) and then my crew used #13 along with my #8 on the Paracam 3D rig at Paradise FX on September 2, 2007, as we shot the world's first Red 3D production.

Early in Red history you stepped up with your #13 to help me out twice - and it was deeply appreciated for sure.

Man if I had the cash I would be there and it would be kept as an M-Sensor.

Definitely a collectors piece and no doubt has followed you around the world and captured some stunning footage.

Thanks for the kind words Tim...

See if you can round up some cash and come and get it! Yup, I've used Red 0008 all over the world - its a great camera! I do high-profile work - and this camera has always performed super well for me. At one point I owned four Red One cameras, but 0008 has naturally always been my favorite of them.

As you know I do a lot of highly mobile hybrid and EFP style production - and Epic fits better into my mobility scenario. If I could, I'd hang onto #8 and at some point in the far future I'd simply retire the camera from my frontline kits and display it in my studio. But #8 has many years more of cutting edge work left in it, and it would do the camera justice for someone who would really treasure the camera to buy it, use it regularly, then some years from now retire it to a place of honor in their studio.

Nobody needs to assume that #8 will cost some outlandish sum. Everyone here on Red User knows I am fair and reasonable. Those interested in the camera should simply contact me by email, then by phone later, and we'll see what we can work out to make it theirs.

Didn`t Jim once offer to buy this Camera?..I`m sure i remember a post to that effect..

He priced #6 and #7 at $200,000 each (and offered to pay Mark that, but Mark turned it down). I recommended selling it for that price here:

http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=41505&page=6

He said anything under 100 was worth 40k and #31 was worth $175k due to it's historical value (even I have used #31).

Thing is though - didn't all of us under 100's swap our original cameras out for the replacements? That was a great thing for me, so no complaints, but wouldn't that change any historical value?
