Howdy from Texas,

After eleven long years, it is time for me to let go of RED One MX #0011.

Jim offered me a shot at an early serial number just before NAB2006 and I'm proud to have been a member of "the first 100" owner's group. Long before I received the camera in 2007, the RED Team sent me the titanium "backwards R" memento with the serial number stamped on it (see my profile pic to the left). As much as I hate to let it go, it's included in this kit because it really belongs with this camera.

ELEVEN did plenty of time in a rental facility in Austin, Texas as one of the very first RED One cameras available in the market. It was used on an untold number of shoots. When the MX upgrade became available, I jumped on it. The hours were reset for the new sensor. I pulled it out of rental shortly thereafter. The camera has 680 hours on the MX sensor. Sure, most of those were rental hours, but it's not a whole lot of time relative to other RED One MX cameras that are much younger than this one.

It has a few scratches and dents and beauty marks here and there, but like most other R1's, it's solid, sound and reliable. The firmware in it right now is Build 31 (v31.6.16).

This kit includes:

RED One MX #0011 4.5K digital cinema camera, PL mount w/ CF side module and focus hooks
AC power adapter w/ AC cord & power cable

5.6" LCD with RED storage pouch
EVF (electronic viewfinder)
adjustable mount arm for LCD or EVF
18" LCD / EVF cable (right to straight)
24" LCD / EVF cable (right to right)

Six RED 8GB Compact Flash cards
Four RED 16GB Compact Flash cards
HoodMan RAW FireWire CF card reader

1 x 10 ft. DC power cable (RED #409106, 6-pin to 6-pin) (charger to cam)
1 x RED brick batt. charger, refurbed in 2014 by John Ritter (documentation included)
2 x RED brick batts., refurbed in 2014 by John Ritter (documentation included)

Element Technica Breakout Box
4 x Mini-XLR to XLR adapters (RED #101135)
4 x Mini-XLR to Mini-XLR cables (RED #108002) (all in new, unopened packaging)
5 x BNC to DIN cables (RED #109001) (two different brands, all are 6")

RED One Operation Guide, printed, 160 pages, in binder (for Build 31)
RED One Quick Start Guide plus extra info, printed, 16 pages, in binder
Collection of RED One printed brochures & cut sheets (from concept stage forward)

RED premium production pack, includes:
bottom bridge plate w/ shoulder dovetail (ships attached to camera)
2 x 12" 19mm rods
2 x 18" 19mm rods
3 x side handles
2 x universal mounts
2 x top mounts
top handle
top handle extension
2 x grip handles
grip handle mounting bar
RED drive cradle w/ V-mount batt. plate & power cable

Pelican 1620 hardshell case w/ custom foam insert -- the top tray disappeared long ago. I don't know if a replacement is available. I can provide a photo of what it looks like if you want to fabricate one. This case came from RED very early on, before Jarred started branding them, so it does not carry any RED markings.

This kit is ready to shoot if you just add a lens. There is a premium on this camera by virtue of its very low serial number, relatively low hours, refurbished batteries, and the included token titanium "R" with matching serial number. The price is $4,200 with free shipping (by ground) inside the continental US. This is a large, heavy package and it is cost prohibitive from both a shipping and customs standpoint, so I cannot offer free shipping outside the US. For any interested parties outside the US -- if you're a fellow Red User with a good history on this forum and you have the experience and means to handle the overseas shipping charges, then please do reach out to me.

Sorry, but I cannot break this kit up... it all needs to go together.

Man, it's hard to say goodbye to this thing. Thanks for looking.

Sorry, I couldn't edit the title. This RED One MX has 681 hours as shown in one of the photos.

Where it says 126 hours up at the top, that's actually the number of hours on my RED Epic X Dragon which I'm also about to list.

It must've been past my bedtime or something. Apooogies for the confusion.

This is dope. I loved my R1 and this one seems like a real piece of history. For anyone shooting on this 681 hours i snot much. Mine had almost 3000 hours on it when I sold to a guy in South America that is still using it! Good luck with your sale.

Price reduced to $5,000 which includes free shipping (USA only).

Price reduced to $4,500 (USA buyers only).

Nice package.
But only USA buyers :-(

Hi Chris. Are you “the” Chris Hurd from dvinfo.net? Man loved your forum from the dv days. Learned a lot there. Would love to collect this camera of yours but am not in the US so am out of the bidding.

Anyway a big shout out to your incredible
work and platform. Wouldn’t be where I am right now if not for the knowledge of dvinfo, dvxuser back in those days where “democratization” , interchangeable S35, “dslrs”, “Red”, etc where merely dreams, and film was for the “gods”.

Sergio, many thanks -- much appreciated.

I'm happy to waive my "USA only" requirement for someone with more than ten years on RU and a couple thousand posts, such as yourself.

But I can't imagine what it would cost to ship this thing to another part of the world, especially Macau. I mean, the Pelican case weighs fifty pounds.

It just seems kind of unreasonable to me, I guess, unless an overseas buyer has a shipping account and experience with moving gear around the planet.

If that's the case then I'm certainly open to it... but only for an established RU member with a solid history.

Thanks again,

You’re right Chris, and to be honest I would just be getting this as a collectors item, with basically no use for the rest of the gear but the camera as a fan and for the History of it. Being that Red Ones still produce one hell of a good picture and all the gear you’re providing makes this a fantastic setup still pretty much current for most of todays productions, I bow out. If however you decide to only sell the camera and the early adopter extras, than please add me for the queue!

Cheers and, again, big fan of your work,

Sergio Perez

This listing has been altered to remove the shipping restrictions I had originally placed on it. Previously I had been reluctant to sell to an overseas buyer (that is, a buyer outside of the US). However, if someone here outside of the US is interested in this very early and classic RED One MX, has a good reputation with a solid history of posting on this forum, and has the means to handle what will undoubtedly be somewhat expensive customs and shipping charges, then please be sure to contact me directly.

Price is $4,200 USD for the entire kit (which I cannot split up, sorry). Ships free inside the US via ground. Ships at your expense outside the US. Thanks for looking,

CH

Reluctant to list on Ebay.

$4,200 shipped by ground inside USA.

It will be expensive to ship anywhere outside USA, but I'll work with you on that.

Sold. Shipped out today to its new owner who lives very close to Foothills Ranch. So, you could say that after all these years this camera finally went back almost to where it originally came from.

Serendipitous, I suppose... many thanks everyone.
