I bought this wide adaptor in late 2008 from Red User member Hunter Richards. I tested it out briefly, with excellent results, but I simply have too many lenses in my kits – thus I’ve decided to sell this adaptor. Tinsley lended its world renown aspheric expertise to the making of this Century .6x Double Asphere. In checking with Century, this adaptor was reputed to be the finest wide adaptor Century has ever offered – and quite possibly the finest wide adaptor ever offered by anyone. It was necessarily expensive due to the collaboration with Tinsley in designing and making it.

This adaptor was in part created for use with high-end EFP/ENG zoom lenses – providing a 40% increase in field of view. Beyond use on EFP/ENG zoom lenses, here is some input I received in late 2008 from longtime Red User member Nick Gardner on Tinsley usage on primes and cine zooms:

“It is a great piece of glass. It will work on any lens that can focus close enough. I have used it on the Zeiss 12mm SS (16mm), Zeiss 18mm (35), Fujinon 7.6-132 HD zoom, Zeiss 11-110 zoom, and a Super Ilumina 8mm. The zooms have to have a macro function to get into focus. Clamp the thing on, and go to close focus on the lens. Set focus wide open, and then stop down. Obviously the focus marks on the lens no longer apply.

It's a really great piece of glass to have, particularly if you have a zoom on a doc shoot. You can throw the adaptor in your bag and have a really wide lens at a moments notice (and you don't have to find a place to stick the zoom because it stays on the camera)."

Here’s some input on the Tinsley from Hunter Richards, the guy I bought it from:

"Just to clear this up, this is an excellent wide angle adapter- but its not going to give you Master Prime results, the added barrel distortion is extremely minimal and any aberrations added are very minimal.

What this adapter does for you is this; when your on a shoot in a tight spot and you have maxed out your widest lens, this will save your shot. The image quality will be less than your bare wideangle lens (of course), but it is defiantly "good enough"- which says a lot for an adapter. Every wide angle adapter I have used up until this one was a complete let down- using this one is a shock.”

Several Century sun shades which fit the Tinsley will accept drop-in filters. The glass on this adaptor is in perfect condition. It has its original lens cap, back cap, and soft case.

I’m selling this excellent wide adaptor for $1,450. Payment will be via PayPal. I’ll pay for UPS Ground shipment anywhere in the USA. For more information, and to discuss this sale, please email me (no PM’s please!) at my regular email at: steve (at) cut4 (dot) tv

Price reduced to $1,375

This is one of the best wide adaptors ever made, bar none. For those who need to quickly add a much wider field of view onto their existing glass, this is a very cost-effective way to achieve that through excellent optics.
