Front Mic Scratch to mini jack in mod ?

Hello Red,

Do you think you could offer a Mod for a single input without module on the front of the camera ?
I would gladly trade one scratch mic for a external in like on DSMC1.

Do you think it's safe to do it ourself ? Does someone wants to offer that service at Red or elsewhere ?
I know I can do it myself, but... that weapon is so new, I would hate to void the warranty.

I won't use Red modules but the OMOD.

The Omods (non+) don't have mini jack input at all. But they are thin and features a lot of cool stuff.

The Omods + have XLR and probably insane studio pre amp, though they are big and bulky.
Awesome yes... but too awesome for my use as I only plug audio wireless receiver in-camera.

Both connectors share the same wires beneath the mic, I don't see how it would take the camera apart... it's on the outside of the body...

I mean, I could do it right now theorically. But I care about my warranty, and I don't know if Red has made something special around the mic.

You do understand there is a 1/8" stereo mic input right next to the headphone out on the base expander? Why would you want one on the front when there's one right there on the expander?

Bérenger - I am working on an upgrade for OMODs without the Pro Audio, so that they will include a mic input. I can do it for sure, just need to check on the cost (should not be too much) - but I can't let it slow down getting OMODs out the door and shipping.

Yeah, this is a great development. Love what the OMODs provide, and they'll be even better with this added audio input.
