Hey All,

We are running into some issues getting our Wraptor pluggin for Compressor to work. We have followed the process outline by Curtis Drake (found here: http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=23243&highlight=wraptor&page=2 ) but we have hit a slight road block. What Curtis proposed is great but what we are not able to do is get the version of the software that we purchased on to the new boot drive that we set up. For some reason, when we download the trial version of Wraptor and install it on the new boot drive there is no way for us to enter our serial number. Does anyone know how we could take the version we have purchased and get it on the new boot drive?

Thanks!

Scott

Help...

Guys, we are in a real pickle. We got everything to work except... we can't get Apple Compressor to update 3.0.4 I have called Apple and they are telling me that there is no way for them to release the Pro App files that I need to go from Compressor 3.0.1 to 3.0.4

Does anyone have any idea where I could find these files? I have searched high and low online and have not had any luck... Any ideas?

Thanks!

Scott

Martin,

Thanks for the response. Yeah, we have checked these out but they contain the latest version of Compressor.

I have even called Apple Support but they won't help me out.

Anyone else know where I could find it?

Thanks!

updates needed for compressor 3.0.4 :

updates needed for compressor 3.0.4 :

and thus final cut pro 6.0.4
= not higher than: Pro Applications Update 2008-03 :
addresses general performance issues and improves overall stability.
Applications included in the update:
Compressor 3.0.4
Apple Qmaster 3.0.4

if you go futher you go to compressor 3.0.5 which is not compatible with Wraptor 1.0.1, and it's difficult to go back...

The best is to make a separate partition for Wraptor use:
install 10.5, update only Quicktime updates, Java and System 10.5.7,
but nothing else - no Pro updaters !!!, DISABLE automatic system updates !!!
then install Final Cut Studio 2, and install manually all these updates, in order:
ProAppsUpdate2007-01.dmg
ProAppsUpdate2007-02.dmg
ProApplicationsUpdate2008-01.dmg
ProApplicationsUpdate2008-02.dmg
ProApplicationsUpdate2008-03.dmg
and stop then !!
you could also install if usefull
DVDStudioPro4.2.1Update

you have to google a bit to find some of these updaters...

I tried the link in my post and yep it takes me to a generic apple download site (after I entered my Apple ID & password). What I had to do was then enter "Pro_Apps_Updates_2008_001_003" in the search box on that download page and then it asks for my FCS2 License. Once I enter that I am taken to the correct page where I can choose to download "Pro Applications 2008-001" through "Pro Applications 2008-004". I would download and install only the first three (001~003). That should take you up to Compressor 3.0.4 (and Apple Qmaster 3.0.4).

When I was looking for these updates, after talking to Apple Support and being turned down, the only way I was able to find the right page was by entering "Pro_Apps_Updates_2008_001" in the "search support" box @ support.apple.com. I just tried that again and it worked. It took me to "http://support.apple.com/downloads/Pro_Apps_Updates_2008_001_004".

Hi Curtis,

you seem to be on top on these Wraptor issues. I have mine working fine at the moment. However, I would like to upgrade to FCS3 keeping Wraptor working. Possible?
Or is there a way to move the Wraptor license to an another Mac with FCS2? All ideas most welcomed!

In addition, an odd Wraptor question. I haven't managed to figure out how to do an DCP that contains several parts (rolls) with Wraptor. Is this even possible?

Regards,
Petri Siitonen

Why didn't Apple add the Wraptor options into the (supposedly) updated Compressor that they just released? Wouldn't that have made some kind of sense? You know, like having both BluRay and some kind of DCP option.

>I would like to upgrade to FCS3 keeping Wraptor working. Possible?

Oh anything's possible, but noone will know until someone tries it. Something changed in the back and forth between Compressor and its plugins when 3.0.5 came out that caused the breakage. It's possible that the changes in 3.5 would just happen to make it all work again, but there's only one way to know. I wouldn't hold my breath.

>...how to do an DCP that contains several parts (rolls)...

I think you mean reels? You can, but not in a way that's actually useful. If you set up multiple Compressor nodes, you'll get one reel per node, all evenly sized. You don't have any control over where the breaks occur. We had thought about using DVD chapter markers to indicate where you wanted breaks, but that would have been a hassle for anyone wanting to do both a DCP and a DVD.

>Why didn't Apple add the Wraptor options into the (supposedly) updated Compressor that they just released?

Because they don't own it. QuVIS was a completely independent company, like Adobe, but with more debt.

Wraptor DCP is too dark/color problem

Wraptor DCP is too dark/color problem

First off, I found a link the (outdated) pro applications update that gets you to FCP 6.0.4 and Compressor 3.0.3--both of which work with Wraptor. I can post the link if anyone needs this.

My big problem is: Using 6.0.4/3.0.3 I can make a DCP, but it always comes out dark with too much red (I think) but definitely dark. Sorry if this has been addressed elsewhere, but I haven't found it.

Is this a problem with Compressor 3.0.3? Do i need 3.0.4? Or are there color settings to correct this? I am capturing HD YUV material, but I don't see an option in Wraptor to choose YUV or RGB.

My capture looks/plays great on the comptuer screen, but the resulting DCP looks awful!

Anyone have any ideas?

DCP = gamma 2.6 - whitebalance D6500 K

DCP = gamma 2.6 - whitebalance D6500 K

so it's normal that your image is darker if your grading monitor was not adjusted to gamma 2.6. You could add in compressor in the filter section of you DCP encoder a gamma correction of 0.95, this would give already a much better DCP if your grading was done at 2.2 - REC709/HD alike.
Best is to make some test DCP's with different gamma corrections - dont forget to add sound to you testfootage as Wraptor doenst like movies without sound. I also add at the beginning some of this : http://www.belle-nuit.com/testchart.html - it give you a more neutral reference of what to expect grading-screen vs DCP projection screen.
