Redusers,

Today I started shooting with my Red One MX and noticed that after playing something back directly off the red, there was a slight crop/zoom on the monitor compared to what we see in live view finding mode.

I'm a little new to the camera and was wondering if this was some kind of odd setting or mount issue. If it is of any consequence, I just (successfully, yay!) installed the Birger Mount to use with my Zeiss glass (Canon mount).

Thanks for any help!

Thomas

When you drop the camera from 4K to 2K should there be a crop in the view? Excuse my "beginnerness"

Yes, dropping from 4k to 2k will double your lens crop area

You see a larger area on the monitor -- it's a "look around" area. Frame guides can be enabled to show your recorded area -- should be enabled by default. You can also set additional guides to assist -- for example, if you're going to crop to 2.4:1 in post, for example.

When you shoot on the RED One, or Scarlet or EPIC, smaller frame sizes are cropped, not scaled.

Update:

"Look around" area makes sense. Guides make sense as well.
Aspect ratio is perfectly normal when exported and viewed on a computer.

BUT Seems the only issue is when I am playing back footage directly from the camera on my 5.6" LCD. It seems to sale up the image a little/crop compared to what I see on my computer. Any ideas?
