SOLVED - see below!

Hi there,
I have trouble uploading dailies to frame.io:

- I can upload and see thumbnails, clipnames (I even can hover over the thumbnail)
- If want to playback any clip there is some kind of windmill of death

Is it mandatory to upload "uncompressed" files (PRORES or MXF) vs. "compressed" (H.264) files?

Anybody care to share their working uppload settings?

Best wishes and kind regards,
Martin

ciao,
i use frame.io every time. Upload h264 max 2000 bitrate and 1280x720. If you working with plugin Adobe use 1920x1080 h264 bitrate 3000.

Thanks - but it doesn't work :-(
anything about audio settings?

best,
martin

you use Iphone ?
h264 default setting only change bitrate.

I've thrown a lot of different codec/container/compression combinations at Frame.io and so far have never had an issue. I have had some H264 files take a bit longer to process than ProRes but I've never had it take more than a few minutes and that was on a large file as well. I definitely run into weird networking problems in our office every so often that I feel like can cause similar issues to what you're describing (endlessly loading, timing out, etc.) is there and chance it's network related? Worth trying to playback files connected to a hotspot, Frame.io app on mobile data etc?

The "Röck Döt" was the culprit - frame.io doesn't allow special characters in the watermark.

Best wishes and kind regards,
Martin

Hey Martin,
Feel free to shoot me an email if you have any Frame.io issues but also the Chat bubble in the bottom right of the app will always get you support directly.

Glad you got it figured out!

Hi and thanks for everybody chiming in - btw: it was a german umlaut - the röck döt - in the watermark which caused the trouble. Removing the character made it work like a charm. As far as I know the people at frame io released an update with a fix for this special character problem ;-)

best wishes and kind regards
martin

I've uploaded all kinds of formats to date, except for R3D.
ProRes, Panasonic/Sony MXFs and h264.
I do tend to convert to H264 since its muscle memory from past workflows.
