Simple Q...

Build 15's manual says frame guides are output on the preview HD-SDI output, but in a camera test yesterday they weren't showing up on the monitor. I can't seem to find an option in the menus. Any clues?

Did I miss a setting something?

Did you have both an EVF and an LCD connected? The camera's hardware can only generate overlays on two outputs max, and prioritises the EVF and LCD. Disconnect one of those, and you should see overlays on the HD-SDI.

Aaaah... hmm. That's not so great for this show, with Operator, First AC and DP/Director monitors. I suppose there's no way to tell the camera what MY priorities are for frame guides? :)

Not at this time ... a system level option is to remove the RED-LCD and use an external LCD monitor with one of the HD-SDI outputs for the First AC. Then all will have frame guides etc.

In this situation I use a Panasonic 17" 1700 HD monitor which can give you the same framelines in monitor. If you want to use 16:9 within 4K 2:1 (which is safer to work with) just chose 80 % and it will give you the right framing.....

good luck

Thanks guys... it'd sure be nice to use Red's nice, sharp, light LCD instead of having to purchase heavy/$$ 3rd party LCD for the AC.

We're using Panasonic 1700's for DP/Director.
