  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Frame grabs of my new short film, 'Marina'

These look FANTASTIC, I can't wait to see more.

What're you doing the CC work with? It has a very nice subdued warm feeling. It has this really wonderful coffee and sepia color that is really nice looking.

Can't wait to see some video from it.

I worked with the normal tools of After Effects, but not much is done to the images.

I exported the footage with a first color correction from REDcine and adjusted curves, saturation, etc in AE. Nothing fancy like secondary color correction or power windows.

I have to say, it was very well lit to begin with.

Looks great, Alex.

Galicia?

BTW, I love this camera.

If there's one thing to complain about the RED One image, it's this:

These hard edges against completely white areas looks kinda ugly... Not completely distracting though.

No wonder they used some diffusion to smooth highlights on Knowing.

Any way to avoid this besides toning down the lights when you have control of them?

Pietro, I will highly agree with you on this point. I wonder why the lights have that hard edge and not a softer bokeh to them...I have seen this before and am curious as to what makes the image the way it is.

Anybody have any insight into this?

BTW...those shots look great. =]

That's my fault. I applied some sharpening to that particular image.

Alex said he applied sharpening, but sharpening only enhanced the effect (maybe without it the sharp transition wouldn't be so pronounced).

But yet I've seen this on other footage.

Anyway... It's just the old digital overexposure latitude.
RED One is awesome but still a digital sensor with limitations of current tech.

Let's wait for Monstro.

:violent5:

The short film just premiered in an important short film festival here in Spain and won the Jury's best short film prize.

Here's a teaser of the short film in HD just in case you want to take a look:

Alex, I just remembered this topic.

The teaser looks great, I'd love to see some of the night shots we discussed here before.

It looks like you worked with good actors eh? Cinematography is also great, kudos to Jon D. Domínguez.

Great work Alex. Looking forward to seeing the full film sometime. :-)

Old electrical installations?

This does not usually occur on Red. Not at all.

All high-end shoots use diffusion, only no-budget indies don't.
