I saw the same photo and the SD1 is on my list for 2011.Simply has the wow factor! I am following it very closely - there was a job offer by Sigma a while back in which they were looking for a video software engineer. It was removed from the site it was advertised on ( assume they found someone ) so perhaps in the future we will see something from them in the video department. Their CEO has also said something to that effect.
I agree that the images out of the foveon sensor are simply phenomenal. I have a wide format printer and the prints are better than the 5D mark II at below A4. Above that - it is so so but my word are they sharp and have a depth and yes film like quality.
I am with you on this one - what some of us video guys want is a lot less than 45 megapixels. Around 2 or 3K at 24 fps would have sufficed but I suppose they would have to redesign the sensor.
Anyway - 2011 is a crazy year - forget the distant future - there are some exciting cams out now
