Will these let me run final cut X on a 2008 Mac Pro?

What's the difference between the two?

Feel free to call me later today.

Apparently not (according to the System Requirements page for FCP X), as they're not Open-CL compatible.

What's the difference between the two?

The 3870 is the newer of the two cards, it was optimised to run the Pro Tools suite (FCP7, Color, Compressor etc.) better than the X1900XT which was the original (and for a long time, only) 'powerhouse' card for the 2007-2008 Mac Pros. There's not really a big performance difference between the two cards though - the big selling point of the 3870 was that it was considerably quieter than the X1900XT.
