Are camera kits even this heavy anymore ??

It has real applications. While I use the Sachtler 18 Plus Sensor for day to day (EPIC with prime and lightweight aks), I depend on the Cine30HD anytime I have a larger setup (or swapping a range of glass). Bought it when it was announced and have been extremely satisfied. It's my preferred head when I'm tracking a shot with my CamTram.

As far as the head itself, many advantages - from the multiple mounting points for handles, front box, extended VF support, standard dovetail interface...
Very nice control when needed - fast balancing.
It's not meant for a lightweight run and gun shoot - then again, no 150mm or Mitchell base unit has that in mind.
