  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

For sale. Arri gear head superb condition

I know this might be improper, however I'm new to this side of the business. I was just wondering how much the Geared Head sold for. I'm in the market for one and just wanted to know what they typically go for used.
Thanks,
Rick

Hi Rick,
I have no problem giving you a helping hand.
Firstly you dont want to buy the 2nd series of Arri head. They were made by Arri for the 35BL cameras. They do ot have the tilt range or the capacity of the earlier MK1 Heads.
The MK1 has a deeper curve to the top tilt function. We call that in the uk the boat. No I dont know why. However it does float above the tilt and you can get greater angles of tilt. So its preferable.
You also want to try and get one with small hand wheels as you have a greater control of the gears function. Good op,s have the small wheels. They are still available as an accessory purchase from Arri.
Price for a good used MK1 about 17k dollars upwards. I sold the one i had for sale at £10k lbs. to the USA.
I am a dealer and if you want me to look for a head let me know.
I do have a Mitchell Geared head available you can have second position on this if you let me know. Price about $3k usd. Check them out they are much cheaper and pretty much do the same things.
A lesser head but excellent is the good old Worral head. Anywhere from $1K usd upwards according to condition. However they are bigger. Any Q,S please ask.
Kindest regards

Tony,
Thanks for the info. The Arri might be a little pricey for me at this time, however the Mitchell Geared head sounds interesting. Don't know if you have sold this yet, but would like to no more. What model is it? If sold, please keep me in mind for the future.
Thanks again and sorry for the late reply,
Rick
