It would piss me off if this post disappeared just because it's a 7D. I could see a bunch of reasons why a 7D with PL mount would be a great addition to a Redcentric set. For one, the use of PL lenses on a small portable body could come in handy where a R1 could not. And two, it would make a great b-camera to those productions that can't afford 2 Red bodies. Good luck Dan. I'll spread the word if anyone needs one. I have a feature that keeps getting postponed that will def be renting from you for a few days when they get their dates straight. :thumbup1:

I can understand why people might feel threatened by such a unique and interesting piece of equipment. It's obvious there are limitations to the PL7D but given a choice between it and an EX3 or HVX I would always choose the PL7D. Given a choice between 7D and r1MX I'd choose the r1MX unless there are time and space constraints with what we are shooting.

Just trying to springboard some cash so I can afford an s35 scarlet or epic X when they become available to the not-yet-red-owners like me.

R1MX and 7DPL don't compare.

Expletive expletive. Please don't ever make a comparison between a 7DPL and and an R1MX! :furious3:

The argument that it compliments a Red still does not make it belong here.

Oh Boo Hoo. waaaah waaah waaaah.

Please go cry about it somewhere else.

By the way - I'm someone who uses Red on a regular basis and patently prefers to use a Red to an HDSLR, there are situations where PL7D would make a very handy tool on set, and if you can't understand that then I suggest you evaluate your understanding of contemporary production environments. If you feel the need to act so defensively then you must have something you are afraid of.

actually, it does. A pl mounted 7d is a useful compliment to a red. The similar sensor size makes it a great viewfinder. I use mine all the time but I don't shoot a lot on it.
