haha, you're right. That's exactly it, i just wanted to put some perspective into this as many don't realize the power of the scarlet and what Jim and the Red team really did for the industry.

I'm a fan boy :)

I see lots and lots of F900's going for $6000-$9000 on eBay, all the time. But you figure, it's a 10-year-old HD camera. That's pretty much what it's worth. I also see lots of used Red One camera packages going for $10K on eBay these days (depending on accessories). This is what happens with technology.

Everything (with few exceptions) goes down in price over time. About the only things I can think of that really hold their value in production are great lenses and great microphones. Anything involving a computer eventually goes down in value. Or, as a friend of mine likes to say when I buy something expensive and new: "hey, eventually, it's gonna sell for $50 on eBay."

Isn't that a F35 in the picture with the SR deck?

You are very close Sergio. It is the F23. The HDW-F900R is a completely different beast.

Ah, that's what I thought. Never seen an F23, but an F35, and that picture looked remarkably close to one. The F900 from what I recall looked much more ENG. Glad I wasn't far off!

Sony cams are workhorses. Never had any problem with them. We'll see if Scarlet-X is reliable when it'll be in the wild...

Don't forget that for 80K$ you can also get the F65 a 8K (and a REAL 4K full RBG sensor) cam from Sony with RAW recording today.

The F35 is about $250,000 Super 35mm Single CCD Imager
Full Resolution 1920 X 1080 RGB
Select Frame Rate of 1 – 50 fps (4:4:4 or 4:2:2 Recording)

Scarlet X= priceless

That is true, but lets us wait and the time will decide.

We did get a estimate from Sony for a F65 for our rental stock and was considerably more than 80K, although they do not decide the final number yet ....According with a recent post from Graeme, he said the sensor is more like 5.6K...I will get back on that....

EDIT: Ok, the man himself got me... Graeme's post 28 explains everything.

Ha, these are the Sony cams we use to broadcast at work. Good to know how much they're worth. They do work brilliantly for the environment.

But might have to bring in my Scarlet for a test shoot... once it arrives!

So following your logic the iPhone 4S is the better?
It has WAY more features, Lower price,
comes with a lens, and has it's own NLE built-in. Can't beat that can you?

These are different times, different usages, different specs.
why don't you compare to something more similar?
Like the Alexa-Studio or the Sony F65?
