Stills are okay, but if you have the gumption to post info about your shoots here, you gotta post that footage eventually, at 1080 or at least 720.... or it didn't happen.

Just saying.

Tom,
With respect, actual footage is property of the production in many cases and not the legal property of a crew member to post. I'd love more than anything to post lots of footage here (and it will happen), but until the EP gives me the green light, I can't.

That said, the hours of footage in our suite are testament that it did happen.

With respect, just saying...

Then don't post in the footage section then. It is called Footage/Field Tests for a reason--not Footage/Field Test/Tell us about your shoot that you can't post anything from.

Maybe a new section needs to be made for "reports from the field"?

macville,
We posted here because this seemed the most applicable place a few months ago when we started. We are eager to share our experience with the cameras, and I started a thread here because I sincerely intend to get some stuff here when I can. It just may be a longer process than I hoped. I was naive, OK?

And I totally agree. I think there are a lot of folks in production eager to share their experiences (positive and negative) and maybe there should be "reports from the field" or "in production" section. Call me a fanboy, but I can't help but to report back from the field about how the RED ONE's have treated us. Until there is another, more appropriate section, this seems to be it.

Cool?

I do understand if you are basically not allowed to post the footage. But let's also consider that this forum is a niche corner of the internet where you can probably post work-in-progress footage without too many worries of pissing off your bosses.

yeah, its the footage section. no footage, then don't post here. Also, I personally really dont like post that say they will post footage later and this is just a place holder thread. no dude, either post footage or wait until you have it. if you just want to talk about the shoot, post in the red one or off topic forum.

seems easy enough

Fine. I'm out.

Man, used to be a friendly place...

yeah, don't take offense, we just want to keep the place tidy.

we all WANT to see footage :)

"Footage or it didn't happen"

With that attitude it's what they will say about your career in 20 years.

Just sayin.

i can't tell if he's aiding our point or throwing really harsh insults...

lets assume the former and move on

Stills are fine it's just footage is so much better, I think even being able to look at a 480p h.264 quicktime lets those of use who don't own a red one enjoy some nice looking footage now and then.
I understand that often the red one owners are shooting for clients who have to clear the stuff before posting it but it's a bit of a tease when the "footage" section gets flooded with "We might be able to post one of these days keep looking".
If this sounds unreasonable then by all means call me out but couldn't they ask the client at the start of the shoot if it's O.K. with them to throw up a few seconds of footage? I'm not expecting key stuff here just maybe some stuff shot on the side stuff like that.
Maybe even some off camera banter.

sub forum: too much time on my hands

go make more footage for us to see then complain about this. stills are nice and people will post video if they can, have time and interest. no more sub forums.

All I was saying: if you're going to have a semi-stuck-up attitude, people are going to look at you the same way. I'm of the belief that it's best to trust someone until they give you reason not to.

Hey everyone. :usd:

IMHO, the spirit of this sub forum is to see what people are up to with their Reds and what kind of images/looks they're achieving. Stills can and do show that.

Footage is certainly preferable, but if you can't provide that for whatever reason, stills are better then nothing. But no images is not cool... (go start your own blog, then... lol.) And behind the scenes production doesn't count. Who wants to see pictures of the Red camera itself or the camera crew who didn't make the top FHM 100?

The "Footage / Field Tests" sub forum also says "Field tests"... so maybe we can consider Red still shots... "field tests"? :whistling:

So keep posting!

Edit: Hey, Tom, I just noticed you have Red #400. Is your recent timed exposure stuff from a Red?

stills are ok, footage is better. text doesn't cut it ;)
