Thats pretty awesome considering how well it works! I think i might have to try building it now.

Perfect fit for Zac’s Epic camera !

Sorry Zac…beat you to it (I’m in Costa Rica killing some time between meetings.) See you at NAB? Please stop by the OConnor booth to say hello!

If I'm there, ill be sure to stop by. Unfortunately, i left my epic at home.

It looks like you are rockin’ a 1.25 aspect ratio and a really BIG 20 pixel sensor in that bad boy…

How’s the dynamic range vs. sensitivity vs. resolution?

If i had a lego monitor i bet i'd be pulling off maybe 200pixels, just the blockiness i love.

Oh man that would be totally perfect to shoot my best friend’s cousin’s brother’s uncle’s son’s Bar Mitzvah as a B-camera to my PXL-2000!

Two cameras; yeah…I got the production values!

Piecing the frames 24 times a second gets difficult though. And changing white balance? Forget about it

True that…I’m better off using two Barbie Video Girls instead.

Maybe I can make a Lego rig to shoot in 3D!

This is reduser, so please take this discussion about the '3D barbie video girls Lego'-rig to dvxuser or another forum of your choice.

I only wanted to inform everyone of the great oportunity that lies here. A follow Focus with the same precision and build quality as an Arri FF4 for only a fraction of the cost.
I've been thinking about this and I can't find any reason why an Arri or an Oconnor for that matter would be any better. No reason whatsoever.

I'm sure we'll see these units popping up everywhere as soon as the word get's out! The LEGO-revolution!

Zac, if you are interessted, Mikko wilson has built a Lego Steadycam.

Some pictures here: http://www.homebuiltstabilizers.com...kowilsonsplayerrig/main/steadicamplayer05.htm

And the full brochure here: http://www.mikkowilson.com/files/SteadicamPlayerBrochureWeb.pdf

Maybe something for your camera? Would love to see some footage of your camera and the steadycam.

EDIT: Being ironic. Joking around.

Kobe,

I was just having some fun with Zac- no disrespect was intended.

However REDuser is a forum for professionals. To even claim that this Lego follow focus would have the same precision and build quality as an ARRI or OConnor unit is just flat out false and serves to spread disinformation into the market. If you can’t see the difference between a child’s toy and a professional piece of motion picture equipment well…I’m just going to leave that alone.

I’m sure this is a cool project for a hobbyist but will never been seen on a professional set.

Let’s just leave it at that.

Totally joking of course. :smile5:

My reply is so absurd that I hoped it would be obvious.

I own an Oconnor CFF-1 and am very happy with it, not planning on going the LEGO route soon if ever. :wink5:

It was the first part that got me scared, and the last part that got me confused at why you were condemning us to dvx and talking about the lego steadi.. Glad you're not crazy!

Gotcha…Sometimes my attempts at internet humor don’t come across so well either!

I’m relieved to know you are a happy CFF-1 owner. I think I spend too much time discussing the finer points of follow focus technology and nothing people will claim surprises me these days!
