I need to order a follow focus today that will clear the RPZ 18-85 with Redrock mattebox with swing away arm attached. I looked at the O’Connor but it’s a little over what I’m looking to spend at the moment. Any suggestions?

Might be useful to know what your budget is. Also what type or rods? (15 or 19, Studio or LWZ?)

I mean, the standard answers are more expensive than the O'Connor. (Arri FF4 and FF5)

I've used the Cinevate in that configuration, and it worked well. Its ~$1100. It's what it is though. An "indie" single sided FF. Its ruggedly built and performs well, but it also falls short on features.

RedRock showed a follow focus very much along the lines of the FF4 ... I have no clue when or even if it will be available.

Actually the O’Connor is something like $3,400. I think the FF-4 is $500 or so cheaper. I guess I’m just going to go ahead and bite the bullet with the O’Connor. I want something that will grow with my rig.

Oh ... I guess I had the pricing backwards.

I really like the O'Con from fiddling with it. I don't think you'll be hurting yourself by buying one in.

In fact if you get it, I'll be a little jealous. :)

Well I got it...and had it two dayed so it will be here in the morning. The FF-4 was a close choice but the O’Connor is just a little lower clearance. I’ll let you know how it goes! Hopefully this is something that’ll work.
