Focusing Advice

This whole thread is why I respect the hell out of AC's!

AC's are so under-appreciated. Almost every smaller job I had where I directed or DOP:ed I had to fight to get an AC. Instead of them being a standard on any shoot I have to fight for getting them. There are too many producers and production companies who doesn't understand the value of having an AC.

Thanks for all the feedback. I ended up asking for a replacement and they found someone else. I don't know how it all turned out. Some of the posts here have been VERY helpful. Yes practice and judging distances by eye is important. Using a larger monitor would also help. Peaking is really an issue on such shots, and I agree with one reply that stressed not using peaking. Next time I am going to ask for a better and larger monitor.

Once again the community here has been very supportive and given good advice. It is very much appreciated.

Thanks to everyone.

Cheers and best for the holiday whatever you celebrate.
