Hi guys I see that autofocus on Red Cameras is not great and after working with my C100 Mark II I understand it will be kind of complicated to work on my Scarlet W...but I am willing to do my best, so I need some advices.
but first I have a question, we all see Devin Graham running with his Red camera on his glidecam and without any follow focus....now how he keep everything in focus? He dont even use the other hand on the lens, so I suppose uses the autofocus! But how? Any specific paramenters?

Also what shouldr rig configuration you suggest to pull quickly focus? Please keep in mind that I will need to still keep looking in the monitor as I dont have the budget for now to purchase the evf.
The guys at CVP already gave me very good advices, I am just checking with you too guys if you dont mind.
many thanks!

I think maybe he sets his focus before the shot and then attempts the keep the same distance away from his subject? I cant see him using autofocus with the types of videos they do, as they often have fast moving subjects which could be difficult to track. Other than that I have no idea how he manages to keep focus, hopefully he brings it up in one of his tutorial videos!

When he's using the Glidecam, he is definitely chasing focus. Literally with his feet, running after the subject with a reasonably deep focus. Everything else he pulls focus manually while using his Glidecam as a stick.

I do lots of gimbal work without a wireless follow focus and do either of the two things mentioned above -- super wide lens and stop down for lots of depth, or set focus and stay that distance from the subject (works well for following, leading, or rotating around a subject).

Also, look into FoolControl (iOS app) if you're going to be working with a DSMC2 body (or a DSMC1 body with wifi module). You can pull focus using the EF mount and glass, plus lots of other things.

Thanks Brendan, yes but when I hand held the canera working in the app it will be impossible...lol...I think is just matter of keeping the right distance from the subject. I think I have been spoiled by the dual pixel from Canon..
