Focus Assist Assignable?

I'm a big fan of the focus assist, simply called 'focus' on the camera. What I don't like is that it's mutually exclusive with other often viewed settings, like RAW, 1:1 view or exposure check. When I choose, say, exposure check, and wish to go back to 'focus,' it won't toggle back. Focus must again be deliberately selected.

Can the focus assist be programmed to a user key on the camera, side handle or redmote? Last time I checked the list of assign-ables it did not appear to be there. Now I can't seem to find the list!

Yes you can assign it anywhere.

If so, it must have happened since the manual was written as it does not appear in the list of programmable functions (which I've just found).

I have it assigned to the one of the buttons on the SSD side module.

Rock on. I just checked again and I appear to have done it. This will make things so much easier.

You can assign pretty much any function, just FYI. Buttons 1, 2, 3 and 4 are my most commonly used on the side handle. I have them mapped to (1) Exposure Check, (2) Focus Assist, (3) False Color, and (4) RAW view.

I mapped focus assist to the red button on the SSD Module. Left hand to focus, right hand to record.

Jeff, I'm assuming you're talking about actually focusing the lens with the left hand button... SLR style? On my Nikon I do something that most shooters do and have the back button just for focusing and the standard shutter release left to just control the shutter.

Woops, right. I was trying to point out that I mapped over all my focus controls to the left. My focus is on the red button, my focus assist is the user key right above it.
