Flying with Batteries (REDVOLT vs. RED Brick)

[Brandon J.F.]

Does anyone know how many REDVOLTS you can fly with? Do they have to be in your carry on or can they also be in checked luggage? I'm also curious what the limitations are for RED Bricks.

Don't know about Redvolts but loose Red bricks cannot be checked as they are over 100wh. You have to carry them on, with electrical tape on the contacts and in ziplock bags. I also wrap them in lens wraps. TSA/FAA guidelines are here: http://www.faa.gov/about/office_org...fo/media/airline_passengers_and_batteries.pdf.

Thank you Satsuki. Very helpful.

I've taken red bricks on planes well over 50 times and no one from TSA has ever said anything about the rules.
