Under the fixed lense scarlet it says that it is fly by red wire... can someone shed some light to what this means?

In airplanes you have a concept called "Fly by wire"
This means that the control stick is not mechanically coupled with the rudders etc, but insted it's commands are send through an electrical wire to a servo driving the rudder.

I believe "fly by redwire" is a jim-i-fication of a servo controlled lens as opposed to a mechanical cine lens

i assume it means electronically controlled focus, zoom, iris.

Anders what are you going to do? Upgrade your redones and/or get epic/scarlet?

actually it`s even more than just that.

airbus airplanes limit pilot control within certain parameters of pitch, bank and yaw. it even takes control over thrustsettings to reach inputs if within g-force and other limits. airbus states themselves that their machines can`t stall or get uncontrollable...

boeing`s only FBW controlled aircraft so far is the 777 but it leaves more authority at the pilots.

what leaves my question on the scarlet: how much control is left at the operator?
