  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Flowcine Gravity One

Sounds intriguing Constantine. I'm really looking foreword to your designs. This reminds me a bit of the panning abilities of the Machine :)
 
I'm glad to be an early adopter of the Gravity One and can't wait for mine to arrive. It kind of reminds me of the time I was an early adopter of another piece of technology with "One" in its name and that proved to be a great investment.

We are solving manual operation, at the very best possible way, so it makes sense, in ergonomics and operation.

Iam using my hands on experience to design all the tools, and test them personally before I hand them over to other users,and only if they make sense.

I believe that there are many more ways for new inventions, and thats the motto of flowcine. To make new stuff, and introduce new ways that they have a meaning.

While I do not own an Easyrig and do not plan to, do to personal issues that would prevent me to properly use it, I love this concept, and I'll try to read thru more carefully and visit the site and then ask some specific questions about it.

I guess too bad I did not made the "Baker's group"... :(


Any ways, to be abel to take it with me and DRAGON M8 in our World travels, I would need it to work well as a Hand Held system, would need to be able to quickly swap from Shoulder to Tripod to hand held, and additionally while in Tripod mode would need it to also allow for turn to 90 Degrees (like the R90) so to be able to shoot Portrait in alternative to Landscape, so not sure if this unit can be some how, adapted to be mounted on bottom of camera to get such mode.


Basically I am looking to not go in to Brushless Gimbals such as the MoVI or else, and also bring the R90 everywhere, and if I could do the above mentioned with just the G-1 the unit could be great, first as it will limit the carrying size and load in travels, second and actually first of all, because I can easily operate this by myself any were at any time in any conditions in a moment's notice, without spending precious time to set up.

PS: Lastly do consider, (if you haven't already done so) a Handle for those that would only use it as Hand Held rig, were there is no need for any mounting threaded holes, and it can now be in a special Rubberized material, so that those with extreme conditions as myself, can hold the camera system for longer times, thanks to a better ergonomically and more comfortable Grip.


Any ways, if this can be achieved... I would love the possibility to be introduced in the Baker's group... ;)

I will give you some answers now but please feel free to contact if you have more questions,

About R90 mode. Iam sorry to say that the only way you can have the camera mounted at 90 degrees on G1 is to have a side plate on the Epic and an extra G1 dovetail plate.
This way you will be able to slide out from normal mode and slide in for 90 degrees mode, then you will have to balance from the tilt dovetail bracket, and after balancing you are done. , so I dont recommend this since it just adds more time and set up and it would be much easier to use the R90.

The G1 is not made for that purpose at all, and since we have a tilt axis right at the 90 degrees spot you cannot roll the camera at this range. So sorry about this, its a different tool for a different job.

About quick change to shoulder mount, and to tripod. You can keep your arri type bridge plate of your red QR stage under your Epic all the time since our mounting method is to work with your top plate and top mounting.

You can release our dovetail plate and total camera in 2 seconds, and connect your shoulder mount and you are good to go, since our dovetail plate stays with the camera and top plate all the time, then you can just slide it in on G1 in a few seconds and lock.

For tripod swap you can keep the G1 with the camera and just lock its roll and tilt axis so they dont move , with our stopper knobs, and all you do is you just slide it directly on your arri dovetail or red dovetail that is mounted on your tripod and lock. That means again that you will have to have the bridge plate mounted on your camera , or even the red QR stage or anything else you are using, but the main point is that you dont have to disconnect from the G1. You can use mount the total system in seconds.

The G1 is made to take loads up to 17 kg on manual operation. That means that you can keep all your accessories there, lens motors, mate box, filters, battery systems, monitor, side handle, bridge plate, anything.

It can be used hand held as a manual tool with out any motors, but as the weight and size of the camera increases, the hand held mode is impossible to handle unless its low mode.The easyrig just takes all that weight and also helps you with high mode and our new style high mode handle and lets you ake smooth transitions and good stable footage.
But using with out and heavier load cameras will probably be difficult to handle in other than low mode, as we dont just deal with light weight set ups.
So my answer to this is yes but it can be good up to some degree and using certain methods, which in your case, having some problems with your physique , might be difficult. Of course the same stands for the rest of the Gimbals out there, even if they deal with much lower weight camera set ups. They are really uncomfortable after a very short time, and they are made for runners and good physique, with out good egonomics for this, and work better as low mode, the difference is they are limited, and have many restrictions in camera set ups.
And thats why we have worked with easyrig from the very start, because to us is very important to be able to work with all cameras, Epic, Alexa, F5, and with any accessories that are needed for a pro shoot, and not just a naked camera.

All in all, the G1 is a very different system that all of the gimbals on the market, and even the G1E (electronically gyro stabilised motorised version) will work with way more possibilities and combinations, that an operator can play, combining manual operation and partly , or full motorised control and gyro stabilisation it still allows for many new possibilities.

An other great feature is the 4x4 kenyon gyro combination with the G1. And all the various modes and shooting style you can have producing natural float moves and work with longer lenses.

The new G1 production model will be demoed on Satis France , at our distributor stand Emit, and people can have hands on with the G1 and easyrig and various cameras.

Thanks for thanking the time to answer my questions Constantine (especially on your BD) and yes, I already knew some of the answers to begin with, but felt it was worth a shot to ask them any way in case I was wrong... ;)

The R90 is an exceptional tool for Portrait Photography, yet I am looking to minimize the gear load to the absolute minimum yet having all the important tools I need.

I did look in to current options of Gimbals yet they bring long set times for balancing and such and seem a bit too complicated plus I prefer to see an option that needs no power, and for this the G-1 seemed perfect for it.

My usual load will for hand held sequences will never be more then 15lb (7kg.) at list during the trips and for the shots I am looking to get, also this will be in short bursts not extremely long shots, and this I can handle easy, as I have been working out and doing as much of isolated exercise to build the muscle groups and strength for the task at hand.

My issue is not the physique, am and always have been a very active person, but recently with medically induced early chronic osteoporosis and Arthritis, my bones are killing me, and especially so in my hands, for this I look for what I see can help me continue to do what I love.

But I think that having a good and ergonomically designed handle, and keeping the load light and always under 10kg. I will be ok.

I just can not bring any dolly nor trucks to do "dolly" type shots, so the G1 would be used in their place, even so under the absolute understanding of the difference amongst the gear, I look to be able to get some similarly stabilized shots.

And also, while I absolutely hated the MiniGyro system, we used in Dubai for the SkyDive Dubai 2012 project, I am definitely going to give a hard look at the "Kenyon KS-4x4" Gyro system, to see it's results on the G1, to see difference of shots with it and without, and then make final decision if it could be worth carrying the extra case for the Gyros as well or if the G1 alone for hand held shots will be good enough.

If was still possible to enter this group, I would love to go for a BLACK unit... ;)

Hey Ketch! The nice thing with the G-1 is that you can use much smaller gyros than what you would otherwise need. I so guess why you hated the Tyler MiniGyro was because of the size? The KS2x2/KS4x4 are pretty small buggers, and they are performing excellent on our freefloat gimbal :)

Regarding the Indigegogo campaign, it is now closed since almost two weeks ago and all those units are being currently done at the factory. We have opened gripify.com for pre-orders for any new comers (guys/gals living in countries with distributors can place their pre orders with their local distributor) , and the delivery of those units will be a couple of weeks later. After christmas our aim is to have everything in stock for fast deliveries.

Yes Peter, it was because of the size, ridiculous weight, and overall really uncomfortable way of fighting the directionality.

Okay, I understand, unfortunately now is also more expensive... :(

Well, best of luck to all, and happy for those that made it, this one simply went right under my radar, but can't afford to get it at the new price unfortunately, and also time is of essence, so I guess, I'll have to wait to see if some one that has ordered a Black version changes mind and sales it.

Hey guys, any update from the Satis show? Looking forward to seeing the spring arm and whatever else you've got in the works. And would be great to get an estimate on when we can expect the direct drive motors to begin shipping, if you have any idea. Production model G1 looks top notch btw, can't wait to get it. Hopefully end of this month still?
 
Hey Caleb , Spring arm still in the works and testing, everything got a little delayed due to some hardware delivery delays.
Some tests got done with Maxon motors and we could turn easily 10,5 kgr , Iam now proceeding for more tests to hit the bottom of this and max up to 15 kgr, but so far it looks very promising.

Its a little hard to do this as we are dealing with the production and some small updates for the new rigs.

the latest news is that we start shipping at the end of this month, so we are still inside schedule, however we will update very soon again.

Sorry for the fast update but here is Peter on Satis with the new ARRI AMIRA and the F55 just to get a taste of the capacities .

Glad to hear the testing is going well so far, 15kg for gyro support would make a huge difference, would be great to be able to use zooms plus a normal range of accessories Also good to hear shipping should still be end of month, looking forward to receiving #2!

We had a couple of pre-units to the Satis show in Paris, and now we are preparing to get the final units and ship them to you!

We now tested with Sony F65, Arri Alexa, Arri Amira, ENG cameras, Scarlet & Epic, and Sony F55 and some others... All working great :) Some pictures from the show:

I really hate you guys!!

Because of you, I am now seriously looking at the Easyrig!!

I juts think that how no one has came up with something this ingenious as the G1 before is mind blogging, such a complex yet simple mechanics and ease of flow in to one well orchestrated synchronism of movements to stabilize a camera... Love it!!

The G1 is a better system for easyrig operation , and in some modes can be a pretty effective mechanical stabilizer.

But guess what.

There are way many more interesting things coming up , for G1, easy rig, and not only.

As innovation and originality is our motto and we are determined to surprise you, we are going to announce some of the coolest toys in 2014, and not only for the G1,G1E, but also for all the rest of the high end gimbals (GUESS WHICH) you guys already bought.

Just give us some credit in time and we promise we will return with a very exiting 2014 and the coolest tools that you all wish you had.

because of you guys I now am looking again at the possibility to get an Easyrig, as I would not have gotten one in a million years, as to me it simply did not offered what I was looking form it...

Now with the G1... BINGO!!

It is an entirely different story, and all it's beauty comes to shine, were all its BIG defects are completely taken away by the absolute CLEAVER design of the G1... BRAVO!!

Of course I still want to test one without it, but I do completely understand now, how invaluable the G1 is to the Easyrig, and in some way the opposite is also in part true...

Now, looking forward to see what you guys are cooking up... ;)

Yes, we start shipping the first units out in two days! It will be a process that takes about a week starting counting from tomorrow. We are making some final nice tweaks to the cases right now, so they also look and work as great as the rest :) Its all in the details!
