  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

yep, thats why i say "timestamped #429 NAB2007"--they messed up my order at first on that fateful day, and so we went back and forth on the phone straightening everything out, where they told me directly that i was the 429th order that day. (they're sending out cameras by when people were timestamped, bc the ordering system was messed up.) so i guess i'm 1929 if there were 1500 reservations... i might take off my "#429 NAB 2007" on this site so people wont get the wrong idea, plus the November thing, since nobody knows for sure now with the delay...

edit: as per jims comments today, we should know a schedule within 5 weeks!

Hi: Mike in Weston (Ft. Lauderdale) I am res# 206 so should be in the second month or so after shipments start. Jim is supposed to update us on Friday as to the new ship schedule. Based on an email I received I think I am looking at about August for #206. BTW back in the 90s I spent a week in Tobago shooting for the T&T tourist board.

I will be renting or owner/operating. Also will have underwater housing since that is my main business. I have a friend who is number 216 or so, so probably have access to a second camera as well.

What style of shoot is it. I am trying to figure out what accessories, lenses, etc. that I will be purchasing/should be purchasing.

We have been taking care of some server-related issues, and revamping the site. The site will be up and down over the next week. You can also refer to www.rentcam.blogspot.com, as that is where we keep news and such.

Its nice to see another Tampa Bay RED user. Let me know if there is anyway we can be of assistance.

Who gets the first camera in Florida?

It would be great if all the rez holders in FL could meet up and take a look-see--if that person is interested, of course... It wont be like LART, but it would be a great thing, I think.

I'm a filmmaker in the Orlando area and my roommate is an employee at Kennedy Space Center. Will any Red users in the Central Florida area have their camera by the next shuttle launch and be interested in recording it, potentially from on-site?

I go every year unless I'm in production, happened last year.

I have a place in Holmes Beach so I'll be doing work with my Red One there & in L.A. The only problem is my order won't be fillfulled until next year...but nice to know who's around the corner.

Maybe someone will organize a RED get together. Anyone???

Hi, Craig. I just ordered my RED yesterday (8/25/07). Last week I took a look at the RED user map and saw your name listed. I actually called your offices and spoke to Ryan, as I was still on the fence about buying the cam at that time.

Anyway, good to know there will be another RED owner in the Pensacola area (I'm in Milton). I probably won't get my cam until Mayish, but, as I told Ryan, I'd love to come see you guys shoot something with your RED after you get your cam.:biggrin:
 
Hi, Eclaire/Claire lol. Yes, Ryan told me you called. Congrats on the RED order as it is certainly going to be revolutionary for all of us. Once we get it, set up, and dialed in you and anyone else in our are are more than welcome to come on by for a look. Call me anytime as I love geeky talk about RED and other production stuff!
 
South Florida, Pembroke Pines/Weston, FL area here....

Sadly I'm not planning on being an owner because of $$$$ but I've followed the RED since day one and if anybody needs another body for shoots I'd be willing to help out. My work is mainly in TV, but I love getting into all types of production. Also since we're out here on the water I also have fellow coworkers who are divers, and I'm also an avid Jet Skier if it every becomes useful. All of them know about the Red and would love to work with one if help is needed.

Congrats to all of you who are getting one or two, or three... hehe.

Early Red owners in Florida: Any of you guys interested in hosting a little get together when you take delivery of your camera? I think you'll have quite a few people interested in helping you test the cameras. Me for one, and I'll bring the beer. Might be a good time to start a Florida Red User Group, too. FRUG!

Sounds like fun actually. Would be great to network with other RED users. Being in the lost panhandle it would be nice to make a trip to say Orlando for a initial informal RED party..ahem, I mean user group. :)
 
Can't guarantee I'd attend but would definitely be interested if time and travel plans permit. Won't receive my cam until spring, though, so if it's before then I'd be party crashing.:whistling:

If we do something in Orlando, I can probably get 1 of the 2 TV stations I work with to let us use their studio. But the early owners are in South FL or Pensacola, and may want to stay closer to home. (But I guess you're willing to travel).
