  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Flickering on panning..HELP !!!!!

I'm pretty sure I once saw a side-by-side comparison of a film-camera and a RED on a motion control rig. Anyone have that link?

Links don't work...

And why did you start this thread in two places on the forums?

Tony...that link would be nice !
Jeff, sorry, but it apears obvious to me that posting in different threads related to the problem I can get to diferent people, thus people in one thread may not be necessaily be in the other one

amourgues, if you post some footage for us to see, you will get help...

I think its your shooting 24p and viewing it in 30 (the 3:2 pull-down)

I shoot most of my beauty commercials at 30fps for just that reason! Other commercials I shoot at 24p for the look and then I need to shoot the panning of the product at 30.

Good Luck,
Rich

Ok
With shutter control you can reduce the exposure time to avoid motion blur, but you get flicker anyway. If you have fast movment within the frame (either the camera or the ebject moves), the only thing you can do to avoid flicker is to increase the frame rate (besides reducing dof so focusing on the object only). Isn´t that a reason good enough to prefer 2K rather than 4K in takes with fast movment ? (2k allows higher frame rate, so you can record at, say 100 fps and then speed it up in post). I´m wondering
