I'm shooting a no budget art project on an Epic-X in mid May, where I have to project photos on a body.

Since I want to avoid the pixel pattern of a digital projector for macro shots, I plan to use a slide projector.

Unfortunately, we'll be shooting at up to 300fps, so I need a flicker free and very bright projector.

My idea was to buy an old slide projector and a powerful LED to make myself a DIY flicker free slide projector.

Has anyone done something similar? Or can anyone recommend me an other solution?

Cheers
David

Even the vintage Hi-Bright slide projectors used a Xenon source - never investigated flicker.

Better to use a Dedolight 400 HMI with projection attachment.
Very controllable and the lenses are designed for film work, unlike most slide projectors.

The DP400U Universal Receptacle will accept transparencies (as well as gobos, 18 leaf iris, shutters)

If you default to a 35mm projector, try to find some Navitar lenses - much sharper than the off the shelf units.
I still have a collection of the 2" Golden Navitars somewhere - used to use them in multi-image shows where sharpness edge to edge was a key consideration…

If you are considering adding effects, look at the ROSCO X24.

Thank you Brian!

Dedolight 400 HMI with projection attachment is probably the way to go. I hope I can find a rental house close by which has it.

Cheers
