Hey everyone! I recently stumbled onto the absolute wealth of knowledge that is REDUSER and cannot be more thankful that this site exists! I don't have much to add to technical filmmaking but I do have something to critical analysis of filmmaking!

I was curious if anyone here had heard of flickchart.com? Its a fantastic website for figuring out what your personal favorite movies of all time are. On top of that, once you have figured out what your favorite films are, you can use your list to help identify individual stylistic elements that your favorite movies have in common and emulate them to make yourself a better filmmaker. I'm gonna post my top 10 and I would be really curious to see what other REDUSER's top 10 lists are as well.

1) The Prestige - Dir. Christopher Nolan (2006)
2) The Godfather - Dir. Francis Ford Coppola (1972)
3) Breaking Bad - Creator. Vince Gillian (2008-2013) {I know breaking bad isn't a "movie" but I will argue till I'm blue in the face that this deserves to be on the list.}
4) The Godfather Part II - Dir. Francis Ford Coppola (1974)
5) Apocalypse Now - Dir. Francis Ford Coppola (1979)
6) The Dark Knight - Dir. Christopher Nolan (2008)
7) Black Swan - Dir. Darren Aronofsky (2010)
8) V For Vendetta - Dir. James Mctigue (2006)
9) Casablanca - Dir. Michael Cutiz (1942)
10) 2001: A Space Odyssey - Dir. Stanley Kubrick (1968)

Well looks like I've got a few movies to throw onto my list! Thanks for sharing!

My pleasure Marcus. I like myself to see what people consider top.

I don't go by what Hollywood or commercial lists or speakerphones like the usual "critics" go. I make my own mind. I used to like directors and I'll watch anything from few directors I liked but the only film maker at the end who is true all the way in my opinion always and for documentaries is Sir David Attenborough.

I have the greatest admiration for this great documentary film maker. He did/does "Good". A word or concept that is unknown to many film makers.

Glad to hear of someone who is strong in their convictions! One of the most underappreciated traits in this industry. That and the concept of good of course hahaha.
