Hi guys,

I'm looking into flexible LED options at the moment. And was wondering if anyone has any recommendations?

My gaffer had a couple of NanGuang bi-colour flexible leds on a recent shoot, and they were very versatile, and they're very cheap. However we did run into a couple of issues that showed their cheap build quality, and the dimmer/battery plate doesn't have any kind of readout for the current colour temperature setting.

Build quality is a big deal for me, so I'd probably prefer something that's going to be solid.

I just had a look at the Fomex FL1200 today, it's a 2x1 120w unit with 97/98 TLCI and great output. And looks pretty well put together. It's almost 4x the cost of the NanGuang units though.

The rigging possibilities these things open up though are really exciting though, so I'd love to hear people's thoughts.

Cheers,

Mark

that Fomex looks like some others that go by different names. I bought a couple for the heluvit and they are useful in some circumstances, though I have used them with a frame and a kino eggcrate on. Color is just -adequate-. I really like the quasarscience tubes, much better color, good price, still pretty easy to rig. Is there a reason you need flexible panels?

Aladdin makes a great product/s
I have the 1x1 biflex and I use it all the time.
Also have one of their mini lamps for small needs.
The reason I went with the Aladdin over the Wescott was the Aladdin uses a milled aluminum control box and really good quality controller parts no plastic like the wescott did. I don’t know if they have changed to metal parts. Aladdin also had water seals in their connectors on the cable. So better in wet environments.
