Don't usually post my work around, but this one was a favour for a couple of young singer songwriters local to us, so the more exposure for them the better

Its not perfect, but until this they'd only ever performed live and didn't even have any audio recordings of their music.

Good of you to do them a favour. Liked the colours. Red sure does have a punch to it

Nicely done!

Cheers guys. Its great fun to see what you can achieve in a short time :)

Of course it helps when someone involved has talent; the girls may still be at school, but they certainly write a good pop melody.

Very well done, especially considering the budget! I bet the girls are thrilled with it.

Very sweet. One comment though - synch is off in several places - super easy to fix. you should get someone who can look at it fresh to help you fix that.

A lot of effort for a favour, great job.

And the MX just sings. I just got off a 10 RED shoot and the difference between M and MX is night and day.

Thanks for the spot on the sync Rob, its the encoded file it would seem... my 444 master is fine but the H264 I uploaded isn't; the wonders of quicktime I guess lol. Fortunately vimeo lets you replace files, so I shall :)

A bit more info: Lenses were Red 18-50, 50-150 and Duclos Tokina 11-16 mostly around T4-5.6, shot largely at ISO800, then graded in RCX with 320 plus a curve for exposure. The barn was just the two HMI's and a couple of tiny sachtler tungsten sources up front. Total time spent was a day on the shoot, and a day total to both grade and edit split into a couple of 3-4 hour sessions.

Hard to truly judge sync via web video... But I think I did see a possible issue in a couple spots.

Anyway, I thought the video has a great look. That's gotta be a huge adrenaline shot for these girls to go from having no real recording or anything to having this as a showpiece.

Awesome job and low/no budget too..

Nice one John. I thought it had a "New Englandy" feeling to it and then realised you are actually over on this side of the pond in Woking!

I really liked the clean flares in the "barn" shots.

Hey Julian, yup it was shot in the good old original Hampshire, not the new one :) . The lens flares were fun to play with - I love the way the MX handles them.

This is me mucking about with flare in our office when we got the MX back from upgrade -

I won't tell you how long I spent playing with that and chucking different lenses on LOL!
