  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Hey everyone, I finished the rough cut on my first DP reel and I would love some advice/criticism that can help me push this reel in the right direction. I did a basic one-light on the footage because its is 95% RED footage but besides that I've done no secondary corrections. Is that the norm? Or should I find a colorist who can really make my reel pop?

Thanks in advanced for any and all advice!

EDIT: Sorry there is a problem with the file. I am reuploading the .mov to dropbox right now.

Your reel should have completed looking work on it so color correction should be included.

I uploaded to Vimeo originally but the compression looked terrible. I'd rather you guys see a less compressed version if possible so I went the dropbox route. It says only 4 more minutes until the file gets uploaded to dropbox. But if there is an issue than I'll reupload a more compressed version to Vimeo.

@mike Good to know. Thanks!

I think there's no problem with the compression. People won't judge you on that. It should look the best possible (finalised) , be exciting and showcase variety and challenging shots, probably big name endorsements (clients). The key here is short, exciting, to the point, in a way it calls attention. If people are interested they will ask for more detailed examples or contact you directly.

Awesome. Thanks for the info Sergio!
