This past weekend I was a camera operator on my first RED shoot.

Not sure if there is a pure THANK YOU RED section of the forums but... I just wanted to say that I've been following the camera/site for years now and have finally enjoyed using the camera with all my expectations exceeded! Go figure, right?

Haven't seen the footage except for location playback but I think it worked well...

Just holding the camera, looking through the viewfinder... What a dream!

A few overheating issues, but that was to be expected running the camera in HOT HOT weather...

I absolutely knew I wanted a Scarlett before... Now I know I need one %100...

Thanks,
Another Happy Cameraman

It's a wonderful feeling, isn't it Adrian? Were you shooting in Saskatchewan?

Yes. It was a 2 day shoot in Regina, Saskatchewan for a project called "I HEART Regina"... Based on the "Paris Je T'Aime" movie where several filmmakers shoot 5 minute shorts and assemble to a larger picture...

Interesting! I hope you'll make it available to us when it's completed.

Hi That sounds very exciting, Im about to start prep on my first Red feature

Hi Im about to start my first Red feature, we are shooting In Mumbai India, and boy its hot.. hope the red can Cope, are there any back focus issues with the Camera, and can you spot a pin sharp image on the electrical viewfinder? any tips for a first timer? I have been shooting film for 20 years so I hope the Red space holds few suprises.. cheers

Nasty ones at least.. I know Im in for a ride, and a leaning curve (steep one) Tests start Monday with 2 venders.. will keep you posted we start principal photography October 28th In Mumbai. its a 45 day shoot, should wrap by christmas eve.

Hey Adrian!! Glad you had a great experience! We'll be out shooting RED in and around Regina for a couple of weeks at the end of October. I'll PM you with our schedule and maybe you can come out and say hello.

This summer marked my first exposure with the Red as well. Similar story, been drooling over the camera for years, then someone asked if I wanted to help them out with a feature length independent project... and they said they were using the Red. I just about died, dream come true. I became good friends with the owner, and he let me use it for a weekend to shoot a project of mine. The whole thing has been pretty surreal. Hopefully the start of a life full of many Red projects!

Welcome to the family Adrian :)

I love this company. So many people have said it but I think there is such a wonderful strength in word of mouth support that I just need to say it again that RED rocks.

I used to buy lots of Nikon gear but I don't think I'll ever buy another Nikon camera in my life.

The fact that this forum exists and that people like you Jarred are in contact means everything as well.

I really hope those ASICs spin well!

Oh, and by the way the footage that we shot (as mentioned earlier in this thread) looks great!

would love the see the footage when its ready Adrian.. Jarred @ Red.com

Insurance

Insurance

I was wondering where you guys recommend buying temporary insurance on a RED camera package for a weekend shoot.
