Very nice!

Beautiful work Koray.

Have you tried using strobes for photography with RED? I've read of techniques, but feel like continuous light is the way to go.

Ahhh!! I did not know that you could use strobes... I will check that, but the beauty is to do film and photo at the same time, I would not use
epic as a photo camera. There is no point. I would go with a regular photo camera.

Yesterday my intention was to shoot a movie and get still grabs, then you have to have to different light setups and then you double your time.
Especially when you work with models whose daily rates are around 50.000 Euro, you need to plan your timing for production.

Wicked shot, love the black and white conversion, reminds me a bit of the B&W photography from a well known nude photographer from my hometown: http://guenter-blum.com/
I'm planing on doing quite a bit of stills work with my Epic too, exciting to see what amazing results can be achieved. Please keep posting the great stuff. Cant wait to see some fashion stills work done with this baby.

As of now, the technique to use strobes is to fire a strobe while shooting video and grab those single frames in post.

Bob, how can you grab this way well exposed whole single frame with CMOS rolling shuter sensor?

Strobes should be syncronised with camera and I don't understand why it is still not implemented in Epic/Scarlet.

For me it just works. When the strobe hits a frame, the whole frame is exposed... no half frames. I think this can vary depending upon your equipment. I'm using the Profoto D1's. When I do this, I'm usually pulling my still camera off set and just trying the Epic for testing, so then I have to drop the strobe power down about 3 stops because of the ISO difference. This should be giving me a very quick flash duration and still the Epic seems to always fully render the strobe.

That's interesting Christopher.

Are you running the EPIC at 24FPS or 30FPS?

@KORAY

Really nice work. evocative. i like the tonality and the mood.

Yes this is also what I thought would happen but people are having good success with this technique. I don't have my Red camera yet, but will very shortly to test.
