First day with the camera and first shot playing around with HDRx. Originally shot at 3K, 24fps, RC 7:1.

Yes, all in Red Cine-X with their built in HDR tools.
Is that just me hallucinating or it is just overexposed first and then underexposed ?
In the HDR version, I was expecting to the same details in the shadows of the tree but with a non-overexposed sky... but in the the tree is darker... so where is the magic ?
I really would like to see a test with a part of the picture who doesn't move (in term of exposure).
Tell me if I miss something...
Cheers
Quentin, I think the first shot is the 'Normal' exposure, the second shot is the 'X track' shot that was recorded at the same time using the HDRX feature, and the third shot is both of them side by side. What's missing is the shot where both of them are blended together with both highlight and shadow detail remaining. Or maybe I'm wrong and that's not what this test is meant to show.
Well like I said earlier, you really need to see these properly blended by doing a luma key, not just by superimposing one image over the other, which, I am beginning to think, is all that Red Cine-X does essentially. If handled properly, you would maintain the shadow detail while brining back the cloud detail by doing a luma key up there. Mixing the two images together doesn't really get you there, if I am correct in my observations.
