  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

First Cam - Scarlet ?

I wouldn't say that 4k (5k stills)/RAW is a huge disadvantage, if you handle the workflow though.

It is NOT - however - tech specs that gives you clients.
What you can do with those tech specs, might, though...

Thanks Guys for all the Things you tell me.

I know it will be a good piece of work to get into the Scarlet and get some Customers.
It will need a lot of time to get into everything and i know tht.

But i will do my best.

Some of you Guys say i should buy a Camera for Now and not for the Future. So what would
you say about a Red One MX ? Its cheaper than the Scarlet. But its heavy and not ready for
the Dragon.

And my Steadycam is ready for about 10kg - would it be enough for a one ?

When i want to get a Scarlet - my first Lenses will be 14 / 35 and 85 from Rokinon.
Just read about them here and ratings are realy good.

So for about 10-11k Euro i will get my Scarlet Basic Collection with this 3 Lenses
or a bigger pack of the Red One MX ...

what would you recommend ?

And maybe would u say "Buy the Brain and the LCD from RED , but the Rest from 3rd Party" ?

Bump ...

Still wanna know - 9k Budget for Camera ...

Small Scarlet or a big R1 Collection ?

I would prefer Scarlet over a R1MX all the time, Scarlet is just the more modern camera, lot more versatile (because of its smaller size and weight) and shares the accessories with EPIC (means easy way to upgrade), the modular system is beautiful and it still gets major software updates with new features and big improvements, boots way faster, got touchscreen-support, a great side-handle (you can use a Scarlet like a DSLR for run & gun if you want, try that with a R1) and so on... ;)

BTW, your budget sounds too low.

For starters buy a scarlet brain, ssd module, couple 48gb mags, 5 inch touch screen, third party batteries/plate and your lens mount of choice. and thats a pretty low budget set up. or if you know people in your area you can maybe rent from them or a rental house?
