  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Think

Power management to eek more than 30mins out of my redvolts and not drain when when the power is off
Timelapse options for longer than 1fps and longer than 1sec exposures.
Image flip for the LCD Screen

Wish

25fps HDRX at 3k
50fps at 3k

Any sort of higher framerate being offered at 4k, although this is probably quite unlikely.

That would be fantastic but I think that genuinely makes the Scarlet a whole new camera and while there might be some updates that seems a little too much for a freebie. God, it would be amazing though.. :)

I would be surprised if we see 5k at 24/25 fps before Dragon starts rolling out to Epic users. We may never see it at all.

Here is what's coming though:

Build 4 is the big one coming.. December sometime. Power Management, 1:1 joystick zoom, long exposures, timelapse, pre-record and ramping are just some of the highlights... which also includes your image flip Will :)

For some people.. this is one of those builds that will be like a new camera all over again....

What does Jarred mean by ramping?

It's when you change the frame rate during a shot. Maybe you start at 24fps, the actors say a couple lines and then you ramp to 30fps or 48fps or whatever all in the same take...

STILLS!!!!

Lets get the stills functions complete, push the shutter button and take a pic (mark a frame) or what ever not sift through xyz frames...

Please give us anamorphic modes!!

I was shooting with a Scarlet and Lomo anamorphic lenses last weekend. While you can get used to framing with the squeezed image it would be much more convenient to see the image unsqueezed.

As an anamorphic mode would use less pixels from the sensor I don't see any reason why this should not be possible.

If the Scarlet can have roughly the same specs as the Red Mx it would already be great :
4,5k at 25p
3k at 50p
2k at 60p
1k at 100p

I'm pretty sure it's possible, because 5k 12p is near 4.5k 25p in bandwith.
With that, I would be sold. Except I already have a Scarlet and an Epic.

If you want hdrx and slowmo at high res, get an Epic.

Some more power management would be nice.
Flip LCD.
Timelapse.
Prerecord.
Creating presets, keymap, with redcine or red ipad app.

I guess we all want the same things.

5K WS at 24fps. I would pay $1500 for firmware,

Ahh gotcha. In which case that's awesome

Maybe 4.0 will make it play "Puff the magic dragon" when you turn it on?

But in all earnest I hope for stuff like

ramping
high fps bursts
prerecord
time lapse
stop motion record
long exposure

... did I mention power management?
