UGHHHHHH

I was originally in the field and came back school very recently.

Working wit 18-20 year old children are really hard to keep them on the control.

I have won 48hour film challenge with 6-7 crew at 2012, so I was expecting that this time I thought I could bring up a little bit more scale.

Then I got the genre

"Zombie or Musical" - What the....

Musical is impossible, so I chose zombie.

I was thinking, may be we don't have to have any zombie scenes, we might focus on the relationship between survivals!

Than, I checked the prop assignment.

Prop: "CITI BIKE"

What the ???????????????????????

Firstly, our secured locations were simply two places 1. campus, or fancy apt that we secured in the manhattan.

Never the less, god damn City Bike isn't located in upper west side.

Anyway, we started to write down story line, and I just organized it.

We decided to shoot Living room scene, and my D.P doesn't have any experience with light. - I told you they are young.

He made a high key lighting at the end. - ARGHHHHHHHHHH!!!! WHAT KIND OF ZOMBIE MOVIE IS HIGH KEY LIGHTING???????

After the living room scene, I decided that all the camera crew member shoot out side for opening sequence - I instructed them, what to bring, what to shoot exactly including shot list, storyboard.

.

They didn't bring reflector, and ND filter.

ughhghghghhghgh!!!!

Than they were late (originally they were supposed to shoot the opening sequence with 3 hours, and they late 2 more hour)

So, I just shoot entire sequence without discussing myself on the kitchen room scene.

-------

I was reckless about believing these immature student.

But, red shoots raw, so I thought at least I could grade them and organize them well, it might come out well!

Saturday 12pm, after I took a shower, I visited to school editing room in order to finish first draft for helping sound team in the morning.

My editor says, she would make it good, so I should get back home and sleep.

I said, I am kind of worry about this decision, any way she said she has an idea and finishing kitchen scene at least.

My editor didn't do her job and left the team at the sunday morning 8 am and giving me a 30 seconds of non organized, non voice sync project.

She said I was too rude too her.

Hey I spent $2000 for this god damn project to feed you bring the equipment finding 5 cast myself, and you didn't do your job, so I pushed you a bit, you call me rude????

I call emergency meeting for entire crew, there were only two came to editing room right away. One of them wants to help editing, other one would do sound editing- sync

Our deadline was 8pm and we started our editing at 10 am that morning - Nothing was done until then.

At the end we submit our film to the judge of winter film awards and exporting the video in front of them.

Final product

1. No color grade, correct

2. Sound team screwed me

3. Editing is not done well.

-----------------

Today morning, my "ex-editor" says that she lost our footages. So she asked me, whether what should we do - she didn't even talk to me directly.

- I am so glad that I DIT myself more than three times at my computer, two other hard drive besides I gave her the footages.

I HATE KIDS!!!!!!! (I am 30 by the way.)

This may be one of those films where the BTS is better than the actual film. Or would have been.

I don't get 48hr film festivals. Why place those sort of limitations on yourself? Good filmmaking comes with lots of planning, at least in most cases.

A RomCom? "Young Zombies In Love"

It has been my experience that film making is full of last minute challenges to make the best of what you have under pressure. I believe the contest means to embrace and celebrate the creativity and ingenuity of film makers by creating an extreme challenge designed to do exactly that.

Many also believe that limitations are exactly the things that force us to be at our most creative. I do. "Necessity is the mother of invention." Etc.

It's a short, fun project to see just how good of a film you can make under difficult circumstances. The challenge tests your organizational skills as well as your ability to collaborate and work as a team. So much of directing is delegating... Those who do that well perform well.

High key lighting, and Citibike? Sounds like the powers that be were stacking the deck towards musicals lol I guess a day scene or lab environment (THX1138 or Cabin In The Woods) or the surface of the desert, arctic or sun may require brightly lit scenes. But then Citibike? WTF? Clearly product placement, pushing a certain political agenda LMAO! Best of luck hope you win!!! Post the flick afterward :)
