Am I the first person to do a 100% all green screen music video with the RED?
I wonder.

After weeks and weeks of sleepless nights, and a team of compositors, 3d animation artist, and special effects artist.
My First RED SHOT MUSIC VIDEO is just about complete.
at this point it has to be hundreds and hundreds of rendering hours, and months of work for just 1 video.
There are layers a pone layers per every single second of the video.

But here are some stills from the video and the Video its self

This is not your Typical beautiful looking RED footage of a music video.
This is something we worked hard on and know its far different from anything else.
And I am very happy I shot it on RED.

DAM its a bare to work with.

Thanks

Can't wait to see this...

Jim

Im glad you like something about it Mr. Jannard.

So is this the first music video done on RED which is 100% Green Screen?

Estimated time on when it may be finished?
Well April 15th 08'

But its taken us a little longer.
At this point I have given up on dates

I feel like RED
My delivery dates change.

I will be finished Soon.

Ya thats why I gave up on dates.

OhNo and The Alchemist.
Thanks

Is that graded with magic bullet? seems very intresting cant wait to see...

not graded in MB,
We used filters and plugins in After Effects. Matt is the graphics and has all the magic in his hands.
But I use MB on about 30% of my music videos
I love that plugin, now its all about coloristia when it comes to MB.

But, If you use things like that what I use more than anything is Nattress Film Effects on every single one of my music videos and commercials in one form or another.

http://www.nattress.com/

I cannot say enough positive things about what Nattress plugins have done for my projects.

The results are great, the variety is plenty, they are easy to use, impress the heck out of my clients, there's free demo, and heres the kicker, and they are Affordable that was a major plus because i didnt have money back when i was in college, i was flat broke but i could afford $100.00.
Now this is what tops everything off, the best things about these plugins is,
When ever i was stuck or had a question I email the guy and he gets back to me sometimes within the hour.
Thats when i said ill buy all his plugins. Cuz the support was just there no matter what.

AND NO I GET ABSOLUTELY NOTHING FROM SAYING THESE THINGS I TRULY FEEL THIS WAY ABOUT HIS PLUGINS. there bad ass.

When I heard that RED / Oakley company "took" or hired Graeme Nattress as one of there designers of the RED camera internals, I knew that they were gonna do something great.

"boy was that an understatement"

I now use Color for grading on everything I do
but guess what Nattress makes plugins for that too.
Ha.
those are a pain in the ass to figure out though I learn something new from color all the time.
And ive been with it from back in the Final Touch days.

Good luck hope that helps.

Luis, Awesome job man. I really dug the track/video. How do you like Colorista? Are you primarily doing all your grading in AE? RAAAAADDDD

This music video was a completely different animal all together.

We used Final Cut Pro Proxies, then Red Alert, photoshop, Cinema 4d, Bojou, After Effects, After effects plugins, and filters, color corrected and grading in A.E. and exported out of A.E.
So freaking slow i hated that but the results have been worth it.

I like coloristia a lot, there U.I. is very fun to work with and different. It gives me useful results and over all just good.
I get banding in some of my images and I sometimes get dirty results, so i dont over use it.
But that maybe my settings or my operator error.
Never the less color has become so stable that im a COLOR Lover is so clean and so powerful I use Color on most of my things now.

Having Bob Sliga, Beau Leon, Stuart Ferreyra and Yasu Tsuji helped so much in the learning curve.

Big Lu, you are a Big Pimp.

This was awesome, dude. The work you put into it paid off. It also shows just how wide open all of this green-screen music video stuff is.

Let me know if you ever need help on some LA shoots. I'll come out for a day or two just to see how you do all this.

Think about adding some timelapse background plates to one of your upcoming vids. It'd be easy to shoot those around LA.

Very nice Luis

I love green screen but have not used it with my Red yet. Very nice.

What is the configuration of your computer? I am wondering how well mine will do with AE.

BigLu, a quick question for ya... how did you edit ure proxies.. and then render them out with redalert?

Tom thank you.
I must give credit where its due.
Matt My 3D animator was the architect of all the awesome effects along with his crew.
Pimp on.

I am shooting 2 music videos on the 16th and 17th
none green screen. Im trying some other experiments with intensive color grading and some super slowmo and 12fps performance footage also.
BIG huge off road trucks and rockin girls.
You are officially INVITED if you want to come out.
Time laps stuff sounds cool lets bounce some ideas around.

Videodisc, i strongly recommend trying some green screen it gives great results.
We used different apple computers
my personal computer is a 2.8 octo with 5GB ram
GET as much ram as you can afford
Im getting 5 more GB of ram before i do my next music video.

Akube I do not recommend using our workflow used for this video.
We didnt have crimson and I would have done things differently now.

basically we worked 4 times as hard going back and fourth between fcp, redalert and AE and i failed to mention we used REDCINE also.

My next video im gonna try a new workflow i have not heard anyone do YET.
if its successful ill post it.
If its a disaster i wont post it. lol

ya GG69 the Alchemist is off the hook.
Very talented and has a great imagination.
This other guy OhNo was amazing also i heard all his beats when he invited me to his studio and i was sold hes on the verge of blowing up.
Im doing his next music video in a month or so.

Lu, I'm gonna be out at Havasu all next week shooting jet ski stuff, but I will PM you about other upcoming shoots. i hate to miss out on monster trucks and smokin babes...

HAVASU!!!!
ohhh boy
I like the sound of that.
On the sand bar? in 4K?
girls girls and more ummm girls?

Due to temperature concerns and some other issues, we're gonna shoot mainly EX3 (in a splash housing), with a little bit of 16mm and Red mixed in. I think we've got some helicopter shooting, a 75-ft houseboat, bikini babe models, speedboats, jet skis, the works! One of the forum members here is the director and was kind enough bring me along. :)

I'm gonna send you a PM now, Lu.
