I was having by far one of the worst shoots ever and got an email that just made my day!!!! Dragon Upgrade email (saying I was picked and can ship it out). I do have questions and concerns please chime in :)

1. Noise Issue (how bad is it) I shoot a ton of stuff for Country and with low light most of the time too, will that effect my shoots.

2. Post Side, I have a 12 core maxed out Trash Can that is having no issues with 5k (using CC) Will Dragon footage effect my workflow? (Need A RRX?)

3. Bugs in general (long time booting up, error messages, camera just not working properly) Does this happen and how often (I want no drama).

4. Just wait until they get it all the bugs fixed? (Should i just do that)

Please let me know thanks guys!!!!

1. I had the old OLPF until last week. In my testing I am not seeing any difference in the noise.

2. I have a 2008 8 core MacPro with a GTX570 and in resolve it can do about 10 fps at 1/2 debayer. If you have a good graphics card you should be more than fine.

3. Haven't been many bugs that I've run into. A bug with timecode and a redmote connection bug are the two biggest I've run into but they have both been fixed.

4. Just get it. It's a much better sensor and you might lose some business if you don't have it considering you are using a 4 year old sensor right now.

I don't consider the longer boot a bug. It may bug you though. :)

Its been mostly stable. The key is that when you do encounter an issue, send RED a log file. Don't assume someone else has encountered it or sent in a log file. In my case, the log file found a HW issue once and I got that resolved quickly, before the warranty period expired.

Cool will talk to my RED Rep tomorrow thanks again guys!!!!

Congrats on your upgrade email. I have just got mine too but I also have a question to take Red Armor or not to. $1500 seems like a lot for only an extra 9 months warrantee. Any feedback on what other RU have done would help.
Thanks

Neil and Mark,

Congrats on the upgrade emails.
When did you guys put in your upgrade orders?

I personally didn't bother with Red Armor since the rental facility I keep Dragon with covers the issues anyway...Rocket X I sprung for armor, since I most likely will be using it more often (since I'm mostly a tech) and because of the notorious reputation of Rockets breaking (everyone I work with had the previous model die on them). If your going to be using both yourself I'd probably suggest getting armor on both, but of course we all have production equipment insurance anyway, so up to you if you want to just put a claim in and forgo it. I might be a little overly cautious with Rocket X, but I am sure it will get beat on at the rental facility so I figured I should just bite the bullet and have both insurance and armor on it, since I am sure it will inevitably break at some point..

My first epic was signed up the first week of August. This is the one that has come up for upgrade. My second Epic I signed up tie first week of September and I am still waiting for the email for this one.

Thanks for the feed back Brian
